July 1997

As Hawk would say, "Wweellllll", another month is upon us, and on July 7th, RAW IS WAR is in my city, Edmonton, Canada. You can damn well bet that V1 is a gonna be in them thar arena. I'll be there with a couple of my friends, so keep an eye out for us. I'll be the guy holding the sign that says "HBK + STONECOLD GET READY FOR A HART ATTACK" or on the flip side of that sign it says "SABLE 4 LIFE TOOO SWEEET!" Anyways, I'm really looking forward to going to the War Zone, I've been to two other events live, back in the old days of the Ultimate Warrior and Kamala. I also saw Andre the Giant and Haku go against Demolition.

Speaking of Demolition, I guess Vince has decided to scrap that idea, since Crush is now with the DOA...I guess this biker gang is an OK idea, I kinda had my heart set on seeing Demolition come back though, but apparently, from what I've heard, Ax wanted to wrestle again and the WWF only wanted Ax to manage, personally, I think Ax is way too old to wrestle, but then again, so's Hogan.(Although he never actually wrestles)

WCW seems to have finally gotten something done with both Curt Henning and Raven, too bad, I kinda hoped till the very end that Henning and Raven would piss off Bitchoff and show up on RIW. It makes me wonder with Raven though, is he allowed to use his Raven character, isn't that owned by ECW??? If it is owned by ECW, I wonder what Eric Bitchoff will dream up for Raven, will he return as the awesome Johnny Flamingo or just stick with Scott Levy.

Something that I've been reading lots of lately is that Chris Benoit, The Giant and Dean Malenko may not be totally happy at WCW and may jump ship into the WWF some time soon. If this does happen, I think it will really relieve the pressure at Team Titan, with all there injuries to their big name stars. I hope that at the very least, Chris Benoit makes the jump. He has got to be one the most intense wrestlers out there, really a talented guy, though his interviews kinda suck. I remember watching him at Calgary Stampede, he was always one guys I wanted to see on the show, week after week. Yep, Calgary Stampede was one heeluva show, they had guys like Dynamite Kid, British Bulldog, Brian Pillman, Owen Hart, Bruce Hart, Larry "Shaft"Cameron, and a whole buncha other guys who were good wrestlers and they had one helluva popular announcer, Ed Whallen.

I want to get something off my chest now also, just a little rant here. Anyways, almost all the rumours I put in my views are things that I have mostly gotten from reading newsletters and a little bit from chatting with other fans. Anyways, there are some newletters out there who are now complaining that there are too bad people out there who put up information out there without first verifying it, they say that most people who write this stuff don't have any contact with people "in the know", people I assume who are involved showhow with wrestling. I admit that, in Edmonton, I don't know too many people in the know, hell, I don't know anyone at all who has a wrestling knowledge of what goes on, so most of the information I use, I get outta the newsletters...the point I'm making is, if YOU don't want us web guys to write stuff that isn't true, don't put it in your newsletters, I mean, you complain about stuff not being verified, I get the stuff off of y'all, so, obviously, ye haven't verified either, and anyways, shit man, IT'S JUST A RUMOUR, meaning, it dosen't have to be true. That's it for me right now, look for updates during the month.

(Updated July 8th, 1997)

Last night, July 7th, 1997 RAW IS WAR was in my hometown of Edmonton, and naturally I was in attendance, as a matter os fact, if anyone taped the show, my SABLE 4 LIFE sign was on a couple of times and my Hart Attack was also on for half a second maybe. Anyways, the signs are beside the point, the main thing is that is was awesome being there for the actual show, no doubt one of the best wrestling events I've ever attended. If anyone out there ever gets the chance to go, without a question, you gotta be there. One thing though, if your going there in hopes of seeing the action better in person, unless your front row, johnny on the spot, it can get very difficult to watch the wrestling sometimes. I was on the floor, 11th row, which was really close. Still, when the wrestlers hit the outside floor or when they were lying on the mat, I couldn't see what they were doing. Also, if you've got signs, your usually busy looking at the Titantron to see if the cameras are in the right angle to get you on TV. I would recommend that even if TV is better viewing, at least go once for the experience.

Basically, there's really no point in me saying what happened on RIW, because anyone with cable could have seen it. I'll talk about my other thoughts on the show. Oh, Sunny was there, and man, is she hot. She looks better in person then she does on TV. Chyna was also there, although she is huge, I think the TV cameras make her look kinda bigger then she really is. The biggest pops of the night has got to go to the Hart Foundation, every time they went out, the place went crazy. Everyone got cheers, even the Anvil got cheers. The King Jerry Lawler is pretty good at getting the crowd riled up before the show, before the fireworks went on, Lawler got up in the ring and basically just insulted the fans...I was laughing my ass off at his jokes. One good one was when he pointed to some lady and said "Nice hair you got there....too bad it's growing outta your back!!!" I was almost pissing my pants. Needless to say, when he came by me, I was bowing down to him and he saw me I think. Vince seemed to like the crowd reaction too, cause when he walked out, he had quite a huge smile on his face and shooke hands with some fans. Basically, it was the Hart Foundations night, any time they were out there, they won all there matches. Bret even pinned Austin in a clean victory during a six man tag match.(I'll come back to this later) The only disappointment of the night was when neither Sable or Marlena or Undertaker showed up, which Dox Hendrix said they would, dumbass.

It was nice to see Bret be the one to pin Steve Austin during the six man match. Austin didn't mind jobbing to Bret on RIW and he also jobbed to Owen at the Calgary Stampede ten man tag match. I guess he sees that he's been ripping up the Hart and he was also ripping up Canada, so he dosen't mind jobbing to please the canadian crowd. I have gained a higher respect for this man, because, he obviously sees how popular he has become, but he will still lose a match here and there. Shawn Michaels on the other hand, he has gotten to the point where he never wants to job to any member of the Hart foundation, he would rather take himself out then job, whatta guy. The days of the invisible wrestler is gone...everyone has got to lose every now and again. To you Shawn, THE HOGAN ERA OF INVINSIBILITY IS OVER!!!

Previously, I never really thought much of Brian Christopher, but after seeing him, I think he's really awesome. He's got one of the coolest songs in the WWF right now, I love that song. Everything he does is cool, I love the way he does his laugh/cackle..it's kinda girlish sounding, but very cool. I like the way he struts down the ramp, he oozes arrogance and confidence...did I mention his songs also awesome??? Anyways, during his match, he did his laugh/cackle a couple of times, which was awesome. He did an awesome looking backwards DDT off the second turnbuckle, first time I've ever seen a backwards DDT. Brian Christopher looks a lot like Lawler...the laugh/cackle sounds a lot like Lawlers laugh, just higher pitched. I think that this man is going to be the WWF's first Lightweight Champion, simply because he's better then the other losers out there. You can pretty much be sure that he's going to be in my Top 10, as soon as I find an image of him.

Now, for some rambling of mine: First off, Although The Great Sasuke did do some awesome aerial moves, I don't understand why Vince hired this guy, I mean, there's no way fans are gonna like him, they might cheer him, but not like him. The main reason is because this guy is never going to get an interviews, I saw one on the Titantron and the guy was speaking Japanese. Now, I have nothing against the Japanese, hell, I love Sushi, but if he's going to do an interview in Japanese, at least have the translation somewhere, otherwise, it's a waste of time. Another thing that I wonder about is Savoi Vega's "Los Burritos", these guys are a joke. They all look like 5 foot dorks. Maybe it's because I never heard of any of them, I know Savio Vega and Miguel "Hairy Back" Perez, but who the hell are Jesus and Rodriquez or Domiguez or whatever the hell his name is. The DOA and NOD got crowd reaction, but no one really cared about "Los Buenos Aires", about the only thing I liked about them was there clothes, if Vince revamps them, keep them all dressing the same like they are now. If there are any Peuto ricans out there reading this could you please E mail me and tell me what "Los Bariquas" is. Oh, also, I hope you don't get offended by me making fun of Savio, but even you must admit that they are sad. I won't even go into how stupid the Undertaker secret is, all I can say is ROCKABILLY and the two months.

(updated July 19th, 1997)

Boy, did Vince pull one over the fans...Dude Love, now what a cool idea, groovy daddio...yeah right. Whatta hell is Dude muthableepin Love??? I could pull a better idea outta my ass. Why Dude Love??? So, basically, Stone Cold gave Mankind a Stone Cold Stunner, and instead of getting revenge(which would have been an awesome feud), Mankind revamps himself into Dude Love...ahhh, there's nothing else really to say about that. I won't say anything else, I'll give the guy a break, he's had to get mutilated as Cactus Jack...so I guess he's paid his dues.

It is getting pretty annoying to see the Hart Foundation in matches, Why you may ask, simple, when ever there in the ring, they get there asses kicked around, it's embarassing being a Hart Foundation fan. For example, during the Tag Team Finals when Owen and Bulldog had Austin by himself, why the hell couldn't these two guys rock one guy??? That was sad...it made both Owen and Bulldog look bad. I realize that Austin is supposed to be the toughest S.O.B. in the WWF, but gimme a break, no wrestler should be able to hold out against wrestlers like Owen and Bulldog. As far as the tag champs, I still don't like single wrestlers as tag champs...they have no real name, like LOD or Headbangers, instead the tag champs are known as Stonecold Steve Austin and Dude Love..the name is like Doug Furnas ans Phil Lafon, no real team name, just there individual names.

Click hereNo real point, I just like the pic.
