Hart Foundation On Top of The World

The pink and black attack is back! Why was everybody so surprised when The
Anvil showed up on RAW last Monday and clobbered Stone Cold Steve Austin?
I think some people need to be reminded that I didn't become two-time WWF
tag champion by myself. Sometimes I think Jim (The Anvil) Neidhart is the
most forgotten guy in wrestling, which is really too bad because I'm the
biggest Jim Neidhart fan there is! From the response Jim got last Monday,
it's nice to know there are plenty of you who agree with me.
Anvil and I went our separate ways in August, '91 and since then fans have
never stopped asking me why the original Hart Foundation broke up. The truth
is, there was never really any kind of a break up. It was just a case of two
guys each doing their own thing and there were no bad feelings involved.
Jim wanted to regain the tag straps and I wanted the World Wrestling
Federation Heavyweight Title -- which, as Jim never stopped reminding me,
was a cocky aspiration for a tag-team guy who hadn't even proven himself in
the WWF's singles ranks yet.
I'm very impressed with how Bulldog and Owen have brought all the gold to
The Hart Foundation. All except the WWF title, which I'll make it my
business to win, for the fifth time, once I'm back on my feet.
It's the first time in WWF history that the tag team champions each hold two
titles -- Davey is European champ and Owen is I.C. champ!
I don't think I'd be exaggerating to say that the three-year feud between
The British Bulldogs and the original Hart Foundation (`85-'87) was one of
the most brutal ever! Who would have ever thought that The British Bulldog
would end up as a member of The Hart Foundation! Back then we were like a
bunch of young stallions trying to outdo each other for the individual honor
of being called the best.
Now we're fighting to restore the honor of the sport. We've come to the sad
realization that, unless we do something about it, good technical wrestlers
like us are a dying breed.
Winning the Intercontinental championship, my brother Owen has proven, to
himself and to everyone else, that he's good enough to walk in my footsteps
-- which is quite the opposite of getting lost in my shadow! It bothers me
that some of my fans here in Canada still think I'm a bad guy because I've
turned on the Americans. I blame all the confusion on the WWF because that's
exactly what they want you to think.
The problem is that the WWF is run by Americans and Vince McMahon is going
out of his way to take every chance to lead all the fans to think I'm some
Anti-American traitor.
Ninety percent of the WWF's shows are in the United States and so they've
adapted to present that gory, blood-thirsty product that the American
wrestling fans buy. The WWF doesn't like the idea that I'm putting together
an international army of wrestling fans to fight to restore what's right and
what's decent.
