Quick Facts Roster

1998-99 Swede Women's Basketball Team

This season begins with a very simple motto, "Enjoy the Journey."  This team is a unit full of character and chemistry, enough to help make the 1998-99 season an enjoyable journey.

The bulk of the experience resides this season in the backcourt.  With two senior guards, we will be looking to take advantage of the experience and leadership.  Chrissy Ptacek will be called upon primarily for her passing and ballhandling, while Amy Soukup will be counted on for her ballhandling and shooting accuracy.  Gaining valuable experience in the backcourt last season, we also return a strong group of guards in Michelle Rogge, Janice Fiene, and Stacey Johnson.  With the infusion of the new players into the system, Amy Scardina (Randolph, KS), Jenny Seewald (Platteville, CO), Bridget Meyer (Axtell, KS), Tara Antonetti (Folsom, CA), Traci Talbot (Lindsborg, KS), Jenni Lindquist (Brookeville, KS), and Erica Heiniger (Sabetha, KS), the guard position will not lack depth.

In the front court, youthful exuberance will be depended on.  The lone upperclasswomen are Carla Smith and Lindsay Morgan.  Carla will be counted on to add depth and versatility.   After two full seasons in the KCAC, Morgan appears to be coming into her own.   They are joined in the frontcourt by a quartet of sophomores, Regina Rettele, Amy Greving, Jaclyn McCurdy, and Stacey Bailey.  This group is also added to with the addition of Kris Schwindt, a member of the 1995 National Tournament team.

Once again, the foundation of the team will be defense.  After leading the conference in scoring defense for the fifth straight season, the challenge is renewed, and the Lady Swedes look to meet it head on in search of a sixth.

This team is making great strides off the court as well.  It has recently been awarded the WBCA NAIA #1 Academic Team.  With a G.P.A. of 3.709, the team led all schools in the NAIA, NCAA I, NCAA II.

The student athletes of the BC Women's Basketball program are looking forward to defend their KCAC Championship against all comers, and are ready to "Enjoy the Journey."
