Tennis

    This season, the Bethany tennis team has chosen the motto "Enough Talk - Let's Play."  This year both squads have a great group of seniors to lead them and a lot of young talent to have another winning season.  They have set their goals high and have high expectations of winning conference and travelling on to nationals.

THE WOMEN'S TEAM

    The women have already completed their main season this past Fall and had a very successful season.  With all their varsity squad returning plus some talented freshmen, they finished 2nd in the conference and finished their season with a 6-2 record.  They played in four large tournaments at Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Emporia, and Wichita.  Every player medaled at the conference tournament and three players were named as conference selections; senior Jericca Jones to the first team and junior Kristi Britten and freshman Amanda Bertone to the second team.

    Bethany is very proud of the women's tennis team.  They were one of 17 NAIA colleges to become an ITA All-Academic All-American Team.  They had thirteen women on their roster last Spring and had a cumulative GPA of 3.62.  All starters off of last Spring's squad were on the all-conference academic team.  They hope to continue the strong academics with the three new freshmen on academic scholarship as well as a tennis scholarship.

THE MEN'S TEAM

   The men are anxious for their Spring season to begin after a good Fall season of practice and travelling to two tournaments in Oklahoma City and Kansas City.  They are loaded with talent and depth on the team.  With leadership from their seniors, they only lost one member off of their varsity team from last year.  Last year they battled several injuries on their squad and still finished second, so with a healthy team there are high expectations of winning conference this year.  They added three freshmen men who have all played on state championship teams and the look to add more power and punch to the team.   With our numbers and depth we look to play several matches this Spring and give everyone a lot of experience.  It is nice this year to have our large freshman class from last year come in as sophomores with college experience, and will look to them for a lot of help.

    The men's team also had a good academic year with a team GPA of 3.0.  Their season consists of travelling and playing in Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and Florida.
