Quick Facts Roster

1998-99 Swede Men's Basketball Team

The Bethany Swedes are looking to complete "Unfinished Business" during the 1998-99 season as they return seven of 10 letterwinners from the 1997-98 team which completed a breakthrough season as the Swedes finished in a third place tie in the KCAC.  Among the returning veterans are three starters which includes two players who received post season recognition in the KCAC.  Last year's three seniors, Ryan Anderson, Jason Hajek, and Erik Shupe leave behind a legacy of hard nosed work ethic, an undying defensive attitude, and unselfishness that has given this program a lot of confidence and pride.  The challenge before the returning veterans is to take the leadership role to ensure that we continue to build on the work ethic, defensive attitude, and team play to take the program to another level.  Five of these veterans are seniors and 4 of them joined the program together as freshmen three years ago.  Bethany has added four transfers and another very solid group of freshmen to bolster the attack.

Leadership and experience has developed as the program has a good balance of classes on the team which can be attributed to the recruitment of top notch young men and the retention that has been achieved in the program.  Our players believe in working hard, playing defense, and being unselfish.

The Swedes have vastly improved their frontline with both skill and size without sacrificing the all important intangibles.  They return very good shooters and good athletic ability as well as outstanding leadership and experience.  So things are continuing to look up in Lindsborg, Kansas and indeed sights are set very high for the 1998-99 Bethany Swedes.
