Bethany baseball head coach Mike Waldie is excited about the play of his hardball Swedes, in spite of weather adversities.  "Last week was a great Spring Break road trip, as we went 4-4 on the week- including four games against teams which have been going to the collegiate World Series in either NAIA or NCAA," Coach Mike Waldie said.
Bethany lost the week's first four games, at St. Edward's University in Austin, 7-17, at St. Mary's University, 1-11, and 9-11, and at Oklahoma City University, 4-9- before coming home to Anderson Baseball Field to sweep MidAmerica Nazarene College, 12-2 and 6-1, and MidAmerica Bible College of Oklahoma City, 4-3 and 7-5.
For his individual efforts, Bethany outfielder Sean Spoonts, senior from Austin, Texas, was named Kansas Conference player-of-the-week.  He had 8 hits in 16 at-bats, with 7 runs, 2 doubles, one homerun, and 8 RBI's.
Prior to Tuesday's conference opener at Friends University, Bethany had a 10-10 overall record.  Bethany also was scheduled to play Wednesday at Wichita State University at 7:00 p.m.
