Season 8 started in March 1995 with Nick Brill beating Alex Sutcliffe 4-1. His first goal was after only 27 seconds. Steve Wilson scored an early goal in his match against Anthony Spencer. Steve’s second goal broke Anthony’s ‘keeper, and the third rebounded off the crossbar onto the back of the goalie into the goal. Anthony was 3-1 down early in the second half, but with a late surge he scored two to get a 3-3 draw.

Champion elect, Nick Brill started his second half of the season early and extended his unbeaten run to seven matches when he beat Alex Sutcliffe 3-0. Adrian Grunbach was lucky to get away with a win when he scored in the last two minutes against Alex, the final score was 1-0. Anthony Spencer moved up into third when he beat Adrian 3-1. Richard Wilson moved to within five points of Nick when he beat Stephen 1-0 in a close match. Richard was leading Matthew 6-0 at half time and went on to win 8-1. Stephen then beat Matthew 4-0.

Adrian came close to drawing with Matthew, with the score locked at 1-1, Adrian scored a winner with one minute left on the clock. The upset of the round happened when Nick was 1-0 up against Stephen, but went down 1-4 after a second half scoring spree from Steve. This was Nick’s first loss for the whole season!

Adrian scored a late goal to draw 2-2 with Richard, who was disappointed at missing the chance to go ahead of Nick.

After the 1-4 loss to Steve, things started to go wrong for Nick. He scored late in the game to draw 1-1 with Anthony, then was beaten 1-3 by Adrian. Stephen drew 1-1 with Anthony, then 0-0 with Adrian. Nick beat Matthew 5-1 in a match that was locked at 1-1 at half time.

Alex played four matches in one day and had some good results. He beat Matthew 2-0 , then went on to beat Adrian 1-0. A goal in the first 20 seconds was enough to win the match against Adrian’s Toccer figures. Alex played well in the first half against Richard, but eventually lost 0-6, letting in 3 goals in the last 5 mins. Alex had another good performance, losing 2-3 to Steve.

The most important match of the season was between Nick and Richard. After letting his significant lead slip, Nick needed to beat Richard to win the league. Richard scored first, Nick equalised soon after, and Richard took the lead again just before half time. In the second half, Richard packed his defence well and won the match 2-1. The Championship was won by Richard for the fifth time in eight seasons.

Nick had lead from the start and looked to be a certain championship winner with a seven match unbeaten run, but it all fell apart in the last few games. The last week of league matches saw Adrian draw 1-1 with Anthony, who had four games left to play.

Anthony beat Matthew 6-0, two of them were own-goals from Matthew. Alex lead 2-1 at half time against Anthony, but the score was level early in the second half. Anthony went on to win 3-2 with a late goal.

The last match of Season 8 was between the Champion, Richard, and Anthony. Richard was looking for a win to end his season, and Anthony wanted at least a point to move up and finish third. Anthony led 1-0 at half time, but the final score was a 2-2 draw.
