CHERRYBROOK BULLDOGS LEAGUE SEASON 6At the end of the season Stephen had a 3-2 win over Adrian in which he scored in a record 11 seconds! Steve needed Ray to beat Anthony 7-0 for him to win the league, but it was not to be. Anthony won 7-1 and took his first League Championship.
Anthony led early, drawing 0-0 with Richard, losing 2-1 to Stephen, and thrashing Alex 5-0. He had a crazy 6-3 win over Nick and a 1-0 win over Adrian. Anthony beat Richard impressively 3-1, then drew 1-1 with Steve to stay at the top. All he needed to do was draw with Ray in the last game, and he won it 7-1.
Stephen beat Ray 2-0, Anthony 2-1 and Nick 2-1. He drew 0-0 with Richard, then beat Adrian and Alex, putting pressure on Anthony. It all went wrong when he lost 0-1 to Richard, drew with Anthony and then had a crazy match against Nick. Nick played without a goalkeeper and Steve was leading 4-3, but in the last second of the game Nick equalised and made it 4-4. Steve finished two points behind.
Richard was not going so well at the start, he drew 0-0 with Anthony and lost 0-1 to Adrian. After a goalless draw with Steve, he picked up and beat Nick 1-0. He rose up the table with a 5-0 win over Ray and defeated Adrian 1-0. He lost 0-2 to Nick in a tense final game, but still finished third.
Nick had started well, but drew with Adrian and lost to Steve and Anthony. He lost 0-1 to Richard and 1-2 to Anthony in the return match. Nick beat Richard 2-0 in his last game and finished in fourth place.
Adrian started with a 1-1 draw with Nick, then a good 1-0 win over Richard, but lost 0-1 to Anthony. He got another draw with Nick, but lost to Anthony. He lost two matches against Steve and ended up with as many wins as losses.
Alex had shown a vast improvement since the Nationals, but in the league his defeats were still high. He lost 0-4 to Nick, 0-5 to Anthony and 1-5 to Richard. He got his first League win ever when he beat Ray 1-0. Alex was the first to play in an all Sports Figure match against Steve. He then thrashed Ray 5-0 with the new figures.
Ray Raffoul lost every game, letting in a huge amount of goals. He was even beaten 0-5 by Alex and decided to leave the League.

Anthony Spencer went through his group unbeaten as he beat Steve 4-2, Ray 4-0 and Alex 2-1. Alex played well, he beat Ray 3-0 and even drew with Stephen 2-2.
Nick and Richard qualified in their group, Nick drew with Adrian, but beat Richard 2-0. Richard beat Adrian 1-0 to qualify.
In Richard's clash with Anthony in the Semi-Final, the score was locked at 1-1 at the end of the game. A single period of sudden death extra-time was played. After three minutes, Richard scored with a weak shot that rolled under the keeper.
The other Semi was a high scoring match between Nick and Stephen. Nick grabbed a place in the Final with a 3-2 win.
Richard scored a spectacular moving goal in the fourth minute of the Final, forcing Nick to pile on the pressure. In the last few minutes of the first half Nick had a goal disallowed because he shot from outside the half. Richard was forced to make a brilliant close range save, then lost possession with his spare goalie out. He managed to defend well. In the 19th minute, Nick finally got an equaliser, then went on to victory with a 24th minute winning goal. The was Nick's second League Cup win and the first season that Richard had not won anything.

This competition was a total disaster! Group 1 was played over two days, then each of the four competitors qualified for the Quarter-Finals. After four days of competition in Group 2, not all matches had been completed, so byes were given to two of the players.
When the Quarter-Finals finally began, Adrian Grunbach, Stephen Archer and Jeff Ogden were unable to come. Ray Raffoul was moved up from the group, but also could not come, so there was only one knockout match. In that match, Alex Sutcliffe held Richard Wilson to a goalless draw, then amazingly won 2-0 from the penalty shoot-out.
In the Semi-Finals, Nick Brill beat Stephen Wilson 2-1, while Anthony Spencer beat Alex Sutcliffe 3-0. Steve beat Alex 1-0 in the play-off for third place.
In the Final, Anthony scored a goal late in the first half. There was plenty of drama when Anthony lost his goalie four times, but the defence was tight and Nick failed to score.
