Adidas: Sportswear company formed in 1948 by German athlete Alfred "Adi" Dassler (1901-1978). Quite the 70's rage!
Duran Duran: British pop/rock band (1981-present), who boast a career sales record of 60 million world wide. The Ladies have been known to cover a song or two of theirs during live performances.
Wrath of Khan: Star Trek II, the movie. Released in 1982, the plot parallels the story of Moby Dick through Khan's obsession with killing Captain Kirk.
Stairway to Heaven: Released by Atlantic in 1971 on Led Zeppelin's self-titled Led Zeppelin IV. Staple guitar-rock for any 70's metalhead.
BRIAN WILSON

Brian Wilson: One of the three Wilson bros. of The Beach Boys fame. Well known for his song writing, considered a genius by some.
Dr. Landy: Dr. Eugene Landy, Brian Wilson's personal psychologist, who demanded "total therapeutic authority" over Wilson and his environment. As Landy bled the Wilson family for more money, he eventually convinced Wilson to sign with him for a solo album. In 1988, the California Board of Medical Quality charged Landy with ethical and license code violations.
Sandbox: Wilson stayed in his room for the majority of his time under Landy's care. It's said when he left his room, he could be found at his piano, which was kept in a sandbox in the living room.
Smiley Smile: Beach Boys' album released in September of '67 on Brother Records.
Fun, fun, fun: Beach Boys' single released February 2, 1964, where it reached No. 5 after landing on the charts on February 15, 1964. The song is found on Shut Down the Volume 2, which was released in March of '64 on Capitol Records.
Late-night record shops... Under Landy's instruction, Wilson was forcibly removed from The Beach Boys during treatment, prohibited to listen to any of their recordings, or associate with them in anyway. It's said that he sometimes snuck out to record stores in order to listen to the surf sounds, despite his psychologist's orders.
Pavlov's Dog: Ian Petrovich (1849-1936), a Russian psychologist, while measuring the amount of saliva dog's produce, found a stimulus response caused the dog would salivate at the ringing of a bell.
Pedagogue: n. 1. a teacher; schoolteacher. 2. a person who is pedantic, dogmatic, and formal.

Yoko Ono: Artist and musician most infamous for her marriage to Beatles front man John Lennon on March 20, 1964. Ono has often been labeled a catalyst for the band's breakup.

The Beatles: Chart topping, world dominating, British rock group (1962-1970) including George Harrison (1943) John Winston Lennon (1940-1980) Paul James McCartney (1942), and Ringo Starr (Richard Starkey) (1940).
Venus: 1. An ancient Roman goddess, identified by the Greek's with Aphrodite as the goddess of love and beauty. 2. An exceptionally beautiful woman.

I'm a New Kid on the Block...: U.S. "teeny bopper" band of the late '80's/early '90's, the "New Kids" (1986-1994) included of Joe McIntyre, Jordon Knight, Danny Wood, Donny Walberg, and Jonathan Knight who became the crowning kings of cool for many a middle school girl.

Elvis: Elvis Aron* Presley (1935-1977), U.S. singer dubbed "King of Rock & Roll" (much to Little Richard's chagrin). *Of Note: Many Elvis theorists site the misspelling of Aron (Aaron) on Presley's grave as indication that the King now resides in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Milli Vanilli: Pop/rock lip-synching duo of Fabrice "Fab" Morvan and Rob Pilatus, who burst onto the music scene in 1989. Chart topping singles earned them a grammy, which was later revoked when the academy learned the voices on their album were those of Brad Howell and John Davis.
Blame It On The Rain: Single from Milli Vanilli's debut album, Girl You Know It's True, released in 1989 on Arista Records. It unpredictably sold 10 million copies worldwide.

John Merrick...all those crazy elephant bones... John (Joseph) Merrick - aka the Elephant Man suffered from Elephantiasis , a disorder of the lymphatic system that causes parts of the body to swell to grotesque proportions. It's been theorized that he may have had a severe case of neurofibromatosis (a nervous system disorder whice makes nerve cells grow out of control, creating large, misshapen tumors. Neurofibromatosis occurring in one of every 4,000 births, though no occurance has ever been as profound as Merrick's condition.
K-Car: Lee Iococca's brainchild sparked the production of a line of affordable economy cars, known as the K-car.
Llama: a wooly-haired South American ruminant of the genus Lama, related to the camel, believed to be a domesticated variety of the guancano.
Emu: a large, flightless, ratite bird, dromaius novaehollandiae of Australia, resembling the Ostrich.

CRAZY
I flew over the cuckoo's nest... Refers to 1975 film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, directed by Milos Forman, and adapted from Ken Kesey's 1962 novel. Starring Jack Nicholson, it is considered one of the greatest films of all time, as it swept the Oscars.
