Friends, Americans, Archers- lend me your ear!
Its that time once more for 3Dshoot preparation. This shoot is on the 3rd and 4th of July. A two-day shoot no
less. There is a lot to do this time because there are, between the field course and the 3D course,
80 targets to prepare. The "gentlemen" in charge are Randy Lester and John Shappell. Both of their
phone numbers are at the top of the page. Randy is going to work at night from Wednesday, June 28th until
he has it finished - hopefully by the evening of July 2. Your club needs your help. You can help with prep
or help with the shoot or help with the cleanup. I think the key word is "help" so give us a hand.
Some administrivia:
1. The range will be closed to shooters, including league shooters, during the time when people are working
in the woods. This is just a safety precaution and is self-explanatory .Toward the end of the week,
when all the 3D targets are in place, the 3-D targets will obscure some of the league targets. Bottom line is the
league will be suspended from 6:00 PM on Tuesday, 28 June to 5:59 PM 5 July.
2. When you shoot on the
3rd and 4th, don't forget to sign an insurance waiver.
3. Pay your dues. Nuff sed.
4. If you work with the tractor in the woods, please take off the mower deck if it is attached. I know a
guy who spent 3 hours one Saturday sharpening the blades. Use some of those brain cells folks.
5. There is a club meeting on Tuesday, June 28th at the DFA clubhouse. There is no agenda at this writing
but you can bet the farm that organizing the 3D shoot prep will be addressed at length.Let's see some interest.
6. League shooters -If you want revenge for the stake placements we have had for the last five weeks
-Evil weren't they- call me about changing them yourself (690-0684). The only requirement is that you make
the change on Tuesdays after 6:00 PM -or early Wednesday morning,
If you can't get hold of Randy or John, give me a call (690-0684)
NEW BUSINESS:
By-law Change: Discussion about allowing all DF A members who attend monthly board meetings to have a
voice in the decisions made on any given issue. Discussion included definition of a quorum and the extra value
of the President's vote when cast.
Motion: Allow all DFA members who attend any given monthly meeting to vote on all issues presented. Motion was seconded.
According to club by-laws, all members must be notified of the impending vote to change a by-law. This
News letter announces that impending vote. All members who attend the July 19th meeting can vote on this issue.
Concessions: There was a discussion regarding price of brats for a shoot. Comments overheard at last shoot that
$2.50 was too much. Mike Pregler said that all of the shoots he's attended -set the price of a brat at $150. DFA
will follow suit for the July 4th shoot.
Proposed Trip: Fred Timmermans asked if there would be any interest in setting up a combination bear-
hunt/fishing trip for the Spring of2007 in Manitoba. There was some interest expressed. Please contact Fred if
you are interested. More details to follow.
Get Well: DFA would like to express best wishes for a speedy recovery to Jim Delaney after his recent surgery.
Our thoughts are with you, Jim. Also, Tim Digman is scheduled for heart surgery .We offer him best wishes
and good luck. Get-er-done Dude!
Publicity: Joe Tilp contacted the Telegraph Herald regarding their semi-annual sports special insert. He asked if
the TH would be interested in featuring the DFA in an article. Response from TH said that the matter would be
passed on to the appropriate party .TH also wants our shoot results for publishing. Further contact with TH is
anticipated
Social Function: There was some discussion regarding a social event for the membership. Steak fry, group
shoot, night shoot, family shoot. This item will be discussed further at steering committee.
Next Meeting is Tuesday July 19th at the DF A clubhouse.
Please attend to vote on the proposed by-law change.
Thanks to Pete Maier for distributing the agenda, taking notes, and doing most of the work on this newsletter.
