DUBUQUE FIELD ARCHERS APRIL 2004 NEWSLETTER

TOM FESSLER, PRESIDENT RODNEY WEIRES, VICE PRESIDENT JOE TILP, TREASURER, KIM WEIRES SECRETARY AND NEWSLETTER FRED TIMMERMAN, BOARD MEMBER , JOHN SHAPPELL, STATE REP There was a meeting at the Outdoor Range on Tuesday, April 13th. All board members were present along with other club members, thank you! Joe Tilp gave the treasurer's report. We did very well at the first shoot of the year with around 125 registered shooters and Tim Digman says "Thank you very much to all who helped him with the shoot!" Fred Timmerman will be the captain in charge of the June 13th shoot and hopes that he will also get volunteers to help out. Please call Fred if you can help in June. The following items were discussed at the meeting: AWARDS FOR 3-D SHOOTS: Tom Fessler made a motion that we award to the 1st place winner a medal with a "Free Shoot" engraved on the back side of the medal. The winner can either keep the medal or turn it in for a free shoot. The 2nd & 3rd place winners will receive a ribbon with al/2 free shoot on the backside and the winners can do the same. The motion was seconded and it was approved. NON-MEMBERS: John Shappell made a motion to let non-members shoot the field and bow hunter leagues for $15.00 plus and additional $5.00 each night they shoot or just open shoot for $5.00 a night if not shooting the league. John will be at the club house on Wednesday only for the non-members to shoot and pay him from 4:30 p.m. -8:00 p.m. If they can't shoot that night they must be accompanied by a club member and have the club member put their fee in the drop box. Please put shooting fees in an envelope marking what it's for. The motion was seconded and it was approved. The bow hunter league starts Tuesday, May 25th. You can pay Joe $15.00 at any time. MEMBERSHIP: The secretary, Kim Weires, will post a current membership list at the club house before each shoot, so whoever is handling registration will know who is a member or not. HUNTING: For insurance purposes, whoever has a tree stand set up at the range, please take it down. During hunting season, tree stands that are put up in the morning, must be taken down at night. Also, no lagging of trees (tree climbers and portable stands only. ) Thank you ! DUES: John Shappell made a motion to do away with the doubling of dues for membership if a member pays late. The motion was seconded and it was approved. If you haven't paid you dues yet, please send them to Joe Tilp, 1210 Madera St., Dubuque, IA 52001. $45.00 family, $30.00 single, $20.00 youth (12-17). TWO-DAY SHOOTS: We discussed how well the two -day shoots are attended. If we're going to go through all the work of setting up targets, we might as well get the most out of it. We will let you know if the other shoots will be two days or not. It does take more members to help out with the shoot. . FIXING OLD TARGETS: Tim Digman said there is a man from Green Bay, Wisconsin who will come to our club and show us (and fix) 40 targets for about $1,000.00. Our club members will have to be there to help him and to speed up the process. This will save us a lot of money instead of buying new targets to replace them. Pete Maier said he will take home a target and try some "Magic Fix" on it and see how it turns out first. If it works, we could fix about 20 targets for about $60.00. Either way, we are going to have to fix these targets. The next club meeting will be on Tuesday, May 11,2004 at the Outdoor Range at 7:00 p.m. We hope we will continue to have a good turnout and interest in our club. Thank you! ! ! Oh yeah, "Free Cookies" : ) If anyone has turkey or any other bird feathers they don't want, please call Kim at 583-0888. Thank you!!
