Dubuque Field Archers December Newsletter
Well the archery hunting season is slowly winding down with only the late season remaining, hope everyone has there buck in the freezer by now, but if you don’t then your in for some cold day on stand . But as we late season hunters know sometimes that can be the best hunt of all and the most challenging. So good luck to all who brave the weather and lets bring home the big one to brag about . The indoor range above the Busted Lift Bar is now open and ready for shooting. We will be shooting on Tuesday , Thursday , and Sunday nights for now and if enough people are interested we can probably open on other nights or a Saturday as well. We have to make sure that we have enough people to pay the heating and lighting bills. The cost is $ 2.00 for members and $ 4.00 for non members. We do ask that all please patronize the bar, John Finn the owner is letting us use this space rent free for this year and maybe next so we need to give him our business. If you have any problems please contact me at 557-7634 John Shappell has agreeded to run our indoor league this year. We will be starting the league the second week of January, so let john know if you intend to be shooting. I am leaving it up to John how he would like to run this league but it will be a 300 round league. John will decide on what time you have to have your score card turned in to count for the week. Lyons well drilling will be installing the well at our outdoor range, Larry will be out sometime in the next few weeks to look at the site and determine where the well should go, then it will depend on his schedule when the well will be installed. I will keep you informed as to the progress as more information is available. The date for the Annual Club meeting and election of officers will be on Saturday January 27th at the Asbury Firestation starting at 6;30 pm. We will be serving beef, Ron Redding has agreeded to cook this for us, we ask all to bring a dish to pass your own table service and drinks, I hope to see a full house !!! The club awards for the last two years will be awarded at this time, Sonny Wieres has been getting them ready for the banquet and says he is ready right SonnyJ))))))) Anyone who has been to the outdoor range in the last month or so will have noticed that a line was trenched on our property for the new cellular tower on Bill Heirs property, we are trying to find out who gave permission to do this. It has been a task all of its own as the pass the buck is going on but, I will find out and see what can be done as far as clean up and seeding, repair of the road, and if anyone is getting some kind of payment for the access rights, will keep everyone informed on the progress and may have some answers at the annual meeting. I would like to express a sincere thank you to all the members who have helped me run the club this year ,I feel we are going in the right direction and hope to keep it this way. With out working members like all of you this club would not exist. Some of you go far above the call of duty when I have asked for help and for that a thank you is not enough but thanks anyway Our next scheduled meeting is set for January 10th at the indoor range at 7:00 pm hope to see you there. I would like to wish every member and their family’s a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year And may the holidays bring you lots of new archery equipment , well guess that’s not how it really goes but works for me, see all of ya soon.
