Board members present: Vice President, Randy Lester; Treasurer, Joe Tilp; Secretary, Bill Helling; Board Members: Fred Tjmmermans, John Shappell, and Pete Maier OK boys and girls -time to fish or cut bait. Volunteerism in the club is at a low and we need your help. As is the case with many organizations, 10% of the membership do 90% of the work. We would like to change those numbers a bit. We have a 3D shoot on Sunday, 12 June. The prep day is officially on the 11 June. The shoot honcho is Fred Timmermans. Give Fred a call to volunteer either for the prep day, shoot day, or during the week. It doesn't have to be a "setting the targets" adventure , it can be selling brats and sauerkraut to shooters at l0 in the morning or helping with cleanup Sunday afternoon. After you read the newly established, written- down-in-black-and-white goals of the club (see below), you may reach the conclusion that the club is on the road to improvement. The board members have set their sights on building a new clubhouse. If we all work toward that goal, we will reach it. Picking up the trash after a 3D shoot doesn't sound like it contributes to the building of a new clubhouse -but it does. Don't contribute to the burn out of the 10%. If you can't get hold of Fred, call me (690-0684). OLD BUSINESS Dues -Annual dues are being collected. Send your single membership dues ($35) or family membership dues ($45) to Joe Tilp, 1210 Madera, Dubuque, IA 52001. If your address label is in red on this newsletter, you have not paid your dues for this year. Call me (563690-0684) if you got a red address label and you have already paid. League: We have delayed the start of the bow hunter league until June 8th to get more participants. We only had 14 folks show up to participate. It looks like we will have 13 one-man teams using 90% handicaps. The range has been certified. We had one possible target problem that will be fixed by COB June 9th. June 12th Shoot Like I said above, we need some volunteers. Call Fred Tjmmermans or me. (Phone numbers above ) NEW BUSINESS Club Goals: I floated a couple handouts listing proposed long and short-term goals of the DF A. I did this as a straw man in response to several members contacting me about the direction of the club and the declining membership. I made a motion to accept the following as the DFA's long term goals. 1. Build a new clubhouse with heating, cooling, and sanitary facilities. 2. Build an indoor range integral with or attached to the new clubhouse. 3. Build a first class 3D range. The motion passed. The list of short-term goals that I passed to those attending the meeting were meant to support the long term goals and examples of how we could raise funds, increase membership, etc. Rather than hash out the nuts and bolts of the short term goals at a regular meeting, I have decided to establish a steering committee (with the approval of the officers) to bring ideas to the membership for consideration. These ideas will be voted on by the entire membership and implemented if approved. I have about 5 members willing to serve on the steering committee. If you want to contribute Ideas or serve on the committee, give me a call. Wash out -The same road that has trees obstructing it had a wash out a couple weeks ago. Thanks to Joe Tilp and Tim Digman for replacing the culvert and making the road passable. We need to find a long-term solution to this reoccurring problem. Someone with practical experience could look at the problem and make a recommendation to one of the officers. Picnic Tables -Here is another project that could use some attention. The picnic tables are in need of repair. How about some of you mechanically inclined members having a look at them and fixing them up. Next Meeting June 28. 7PM. DFA club house
