The Glove

Each season, the twenty franchises compete for the right to own "The Glove" for one year.

World Series History

orVS

1995 - Montreal Expos - New York Mets winner vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Hideo Nomo, David Cone, and the rest of the Dodgers await the winner of the Connie Mack League Championship Series.

1994 - Houston Astros 4, Oakland Athletics 0

MVP Jeff Bagwell teamed with Craig Biggio to sweep Frank Thomas and his fellow A's to bring Houston, historically one of the weakest franchises in the league, its first league championship in 16 years.

1993 - Montreal Expos 4, San Francisco Giants 3

1992 - Montreal Expos 4, San Francisco Giants 2

1991 - Seattle Mariners vs. New York Yankees

1990 - Chicago Cubs 4, San Diego Padres 3

In a historic game seven matchup featuring Roger Clemens (19-3, 2.25) against Nolan Ryan (16-5, 1.89), Ryan's Cubs win the series after reserve OF Rick Leach hits a grandslam in the fourth off Clemens to complete Chicago's comeback from a 3-2 series deficit. This series featured two truly great teams --- the Cubs (124 - 38) and Padres (116 - 46)

1989 - San Diego Padres 4, Milwaukee Brewers 3

The Padres, led by Fred McGriff's four home runs, defeated the injury-riddled Brewers in a hotly-contested series. The Brewers, 87-73 during the season, had lost starting 1B Mark McGwire, RF Jose Canseco, and CF Eric Davis in the league championship over the Dodgers, yet still were able to take the 100-62 Padres to seven games. Only Padre victories in games five and six behind Andy Benes and Roger Clemens, an offseason acquisition from the Mets, prevented what would have been an inspired championship by the battered Brewers. This series proved to be the swan song for the Brewers who, along with the Mets, could claim to be the team of the 1980s.

1988 - Kansas City Royals 4, New York Yankees 2

1987 - Milwaukee Brewers 4, New York Mets 3

In a rematch of the 1986 World Series, the powerful Brewers overcame a 3-1 deficit behind MVP Spike Owen's timely hitting and bested Met starters Roger Clemens and Dwight Gooden in games five and six. In the final game, Brewer 3B Wade Boggs' homerun off Roger McDowell keyed a 5-run seventh as the Brew Crew won, 7-3, to take the series. The Brewers were led during the regular season by Dale Murphy (.285-35-112), Kevin McReynolds (.300-38-129), and Wade Boggs (.387-29-119).

1986 - New York Mets 4, Milwaukee Brewers 3

1985 - Los Angeles Dodgers 4, Toronto Blue Jays 1

1983 - New York Mets 4, Montreal Expos 2

1978 - Houston Astros 4, Philadelphia Phillies 0
