Three sides of Upton Park, and all too dark to see anything!

DESCRIPTION

There are two pretty identical double deckers stands behind each goal at Upton Park, both having claret seats with West Ham United spelt out in white and blue in them. One of them, the Bobby Moore Stand has a row of executive boxes between the tiers. These two stands are new and impressive developments while the rest of Upton Park remains the same as it has done for many years. On one side is theWest Stand, and old-style main stand with upper tier and seated Paddock area, there are a series of posts that support the seemingly over-sized roof, it looks like it hangs over 10 yards of the playing surface as well as the seats. Opposite the West Stand is the appropriately (though non too imaginatively)named East Stand, which is really quite a poor, grey looking development. It's got a cantilevered roof which is something, but it's so small that if you didn't see this stand in context you'd think it was part of a much smaller London ground.

HOW TO GET THERE

I went there on the tube and got off at... Upton Park station - amazing! The ground is only five minutes walk from there.

BEST THING ABOUT...

Trevor Brooking and Julian Dicks' penalties

THE BEST GAMES TO GO TO

Almost certainly West Ham - Man U. games, the atmosphere is incredible, they really raise their game when they play United.
