highest scorer in one-day internationals is Desmond Haynes(West Indies) with over
8,000 runs.
The maximum number of one-day
appearances were made by Allan Border(Australia), who played in all of 274 one-dayers.
The highest one-day individual
score was made by Saeed Anwar(Pakistan), 194, against India in 1997.
Javed Miandad(Pakistan)
was batting when Pakistan needed 4 runs to win off the last ball of the match,
against India at Sharjah. He hit Chetan Sharma's ball for six!!! A few years later
he hit Steve Waugh(Australia) for six off the penultimate ball of the match giving
Pakistan another memorable victory.
Sunil Gavaskar(India),
regarded as one of the all time great batsman, batted the entire 60 overs of a
one-dayer, scoring 36*.
Pakistan were once bowled
out by South Africa in Cape Town for 43. 7 of their 11 batsman scored ducks.
The quickest one-day century
was scored by Shahid Afridi(Pakistan) off 37 balls against Sri Lanka, in Nairobi,
Kenya. Ironically Sanath Jayasuriya, who was the previous holder of the same record
was hit by Afridi for 43 runs in 2 overs.
