She was only supposed to compete in one or two events, but Mirela Tugurlan played a larger-than-expected role in helping the Romanians bring home a team bronze medal. Due to other gymnasts' injuries, Mirela was forced to compete in every event. With all this against them, nobody expected the Romanians to medal. However, they did, with the help of a continually rising gymnast, Mirela Tugurlan.
