Seamus O'Dowd
Sensei Seamus O'Dowd started his karate training in 1985, under the direction of Sensei Ray Payne (then 3rd Dan) in Bandon Karate Club, Co. Cork, Ireland. He achieved 1st Dan black belt in 1989 and is now 3rd Dan.

He is currently serving as P.R.O. of the Irish Karate Union, one of the largest and most reputable karate organisations in Ireland. This organisation is affiliated to Shotokan Karate International Federation, which is lead by the legendary Hirokazu Kanazawa Sensei.

Seamus has held several National karate titles and is the current Irish Karate Union National Kata Champion (Individual & Team), as well as being Club Captain for the club that won "Best Club Overall" at the 1997 I.K.U. National Championships. He is also a member of I.K.U. National Team and competed at the S.K.I.F. World Karate Championships in June 1997 where he reached the semi-final of the Men's Individual Kata. He competed in the S.K.I.F. European Championships in England in October 1998 where he won a silver medal for Team Kata.

Seamus has several years of teaching experience in karate, having been an assistant instructor in Bandon Karate Club from 1990 to 1995. In 1994 he founded Shin-Do-Kan Karate Club (Dublin) and has been the club instructor there since then.
