Carroll`s preparation ends with sturdy performance

Mark Carroll finishes up his racing program with a good run

September 01 Berlin, Germany

Ireland`s top medal prospect in the men`s was in action last night in Berlin over 3,000m.Mark Carroll has run well all season and his preparation was completed as he finished 8th in 7:41.03.He ran hard throughout and this outing will serve his chances of a strong placing in Sydney well.Unfortunately none of the Golden League meetings are televised in Ireland this year and our usual sources of reports did not give us too much info on what actually happened during the race.

The winning time was 7.30.76 run by Ali Saidi Seif, winner in Gateshead over 1500m earlier in the week with Brahim Lahlafi second in 7:31.98.Seif will surely be hoping for a medal in Sydney after some strong performances lately.Mark will now begin his final training preparations as he sets off to Sydey for what he will hope to be a fantastic Olympic Games for the 28 year old Corkman

Mark Carroll is now set for the biggest challenge of his carrer, The Olympic Games of Sydney 2000
