Junior and senior bowlers stole the spotlight at the Orange Tenpin Bowl over the past week, with Matthew Culverson rolling a great 223 game in the Tuesday Junior league.

In the same league Ashleigh O'Neil bowled a 219 game while Kate McGregor came up with a personal best 201 game.

In the Golden Oldies Senior League on Monday Milton Davis achieved the near-impossible when he converted the seven-ten split.

Bob Waddell was in good form in the Tuesday 6:30 league with a 246 game while Michael Marks rolled a 204. Waddell also bowled a 213 game in the Sunday Sabbath league.

In that league, Bill Harvey fired a five-bagger on the way to a personal best 228 game while Will Harvey shot a 206 game.

Kevin Newson bowled a 221 in the Sunday Restricted Singles ahead of Mick Moorby 205 and Chris Fuller 221.

The Sunday Doubles saw high games from Ray Parkes 213 and Jonathan Thatcher 203. Thatcher has been doing well lately and he also managed a 210 in the Wednesday 10am league.

Others to shine in that league were Julie Wilson 203 and David Rosser 235. Carl Bishop bowled a 216 in the Tuesday 6:30 league.

In the first round final of the Wednesday Doubles high games were bowled by Marilyn Schwenke 212, Ian Hazzard 247-202 (618), Henry Phillips 213, Dianne Gee 209 and Debbie Seers 223.

Judy Louie shot a 222 game in the Monday 10am triples to nudge Keith Bugden's 221 for high game of the day while Dianne Fishlock rolled a 201.

Marilyn Schwenke shot 225-212 in the Tuesday Ladies Singles ahead of Dianne Gee 215-213, Mel Brown 204, Sharon Trudgett 210 and Gwen Britt 211-219.

There were no series scores provided this week from the Monday Scratch Singles but high games were bowled by Jason Brown 207, Jason Belmonte 221-212, Steve Reil 202-206-243, Bindy Irwin 200, June Reil 200, Allan Collins 203-215, Mark Lijic 214-228-224, John Rapley 216-203 and Mario Mastronardi 210.

Mastronardi was one of six players to roll a 600 series in the Friday Triples, firing 232-214 for a 606 trio.

Leading the way though was Tony Richards who shot 234-202 for a 633 set ahead of Stan Streatfeild 224-211 (621) and Tony Irwin 233 (618). Also cracking 600 were Jason Belmonte 207-226 (608) and Warren Handel 219-213 (600).

Noteworthy games were also bowled by Rebecca Belmonte 200-212, Ross Caltabiano 224, Melissa Johnston 203, Mark Lijic 228, Henry Phillips 213, June Reil 211-214, David Rosser 213 and Marilyn Schwenke 200.

Personal best games this week were bowled by Charmaine Kentwell 161, Jenny Wade 161, Nicole Wright 163 (66 over average), Damion Carr 120 and Daniel Carr 117.

Glancing over the game scores in the recent Nu Vision Invitational, one game that was overlooked in last week's "Fast Lane" column was from Tim Irwin who went within a shot of a perfect game, leaving a solid ten pin on the final shot for a brilliant 299 game. Congratulations Tim.

The Bathurst City Championships conclude this weekend while the 1999 Orange City Championships for adults and juniors is rapidly approaching.

This year's Championships will be held over two weekends from 10-13 and 24-26 September. The intervening weekend features the Orange Pee Wee Championships.

The Championships feature the Teams Challenge on 12 September and conclude with the Open, Graded and Veteran Masters where the winners gain a spot in the 2000 New South Wales State Masters.

Other upcoming events include the finals of the Central West Pennants series on 5 September and round six of the South-West zone Country Challenge at Bathurst on 18-19 September.

The Australian National Championships will be held in Adelaide throughout October while November sees the New South Wales Country Junior Tenpin Cup in Orange and the OTBA Adult-Junior Doubles.
