Orange bowler John Rapley competed in the Nowra City Championships at the Shoalhaven Bowl on the South Coast last weekend and returned with victories in five events including the Wal Herne Veteran Masters.

Rapley finished with a composite average of 199 over twenty one games on the weekend, an excellent effort for an A grade player.

In the Veteran Masters he averaged 192 including a 226 high game. In the play-off match to decide the champion, Rapley beat local Bob Harrison 211-186 for the title.

Rapley was on fire in the A grade singles, tossing games of 206-201-246 for a nice 653 series. He rolled a 234 as part of his 617 block in winning the B grade Mixed Doubles and shot 204-223 on the way to a 601 series in winning the A grade teams. His 1774 nine game total also gave him a win in the All Events category.
