Despite the majority of bowlers already off on their annual Christmas hiatus, hence the short story this week, the final week of league play at the Orange Tenpin Bowl for 1999 still saw a number of high games.
Marilyn Schwenke was the lone star in the Tuesday Ladies Singles and she did it in good style, shooting games of 220-203-212 for a four games series of 818.
Will Harvey fired an excellent 233 in the Sunday Sabbath league while father Bill Harvey answered with a nice 221 of his own. Bob Waddell shot 213-205 while Rob Jones bowled a 219 and Debbie Bartimote a 202 game.
In the Tuesday 6.30 league Kevin Turner turned in a 217 score while Joe Wilkins rolled games of 208 and 213.
John Marks shot a 217 in the Monday 6:30 league ahead of Horst Uhle with 202 while Jamie Stewart bowled a personal best 184 game.
The Wednesday Doubles concluded this week with Dianne Gee leading the way in the final round with a 234 game ahead of Ian Hazzard 226 (601/3), Dianne Hazzard 202, Henry Phillips 204, Mim Dinsmore 202, Anthony Ruggiero 214 and Sharon Trudgett 202. Bowling as "Desh", Trudgett and partner Debbie Seers defeated a gallant "Crispies" in the round two final.
"Desh" had the momentum going into the grand final against "Hazzards" (who never got around to selecting a team name for the league!) and that continued with Trudgett shooting 224 in the first match.
Trudgett and Seers ran out of puff though as the tide turned. Ian Hazzard didn't miss the pocket but left stacks of annoying ten pins as he fired 226-237 in the next two games for a 655 series while Dianne Hazzard, after a very shaky start, replied with a 224 of her own as her team claimed victory.
