All eyes will be on Orange champion junior Jason Belmonte as he tries to win tomorrow's fourth annual Ron Boulton Marine and Cycles and Harvey Norman Orange 1999 NSW Country Junior Cup, trying to improve on last year's third placing behind Jarrod Lean.

Belmonte has been in top form this year, capturing the Country Masters and bowling well in a number of high-calibre junior tournaments. His year was capped with the recent invitation to compete in the Coca-Classic that will be televised on Capital Television from Boxing Day.

A capacity field of 48 starters will bowl in tomorrow's tournament that has separate scratch and handicap divisions with both winners to take home a mountain bike, trophy and $200 cash. Minor placegetters will receive electrical goods and cash prizes.

Entries have been received from across the state with a large contingent of South Coast players competing against some of the best in the Central West.

John Leo, ball driller from Nu Vision Bowl in Chester Hill, will be in attendance today and tomorrow at the Bowl to drill balls or offer a free appraisal of your current equipment.

You've only got a few hours left to lodge a nomination for the 99/00 Orange Tenpin Bowling Association committee as they close today. The Association's Annual General meeting will be held in a fortnight's time on Saturday November 27.

The OTBA Adult-Junior Doubles will be held the following day along with the annual Barbecue Presentation Day.

After a general downturn in scores in early October things have really swung around lately with another run of high games over the past week.

For the third week in a row it was the Wednesday Doubles league that supplied the week's best bowler with Glenn Robinson rolling a very impressive personal best series of 710.

Robinson was on fire as he shot a big 269 in the first game with ten strikes the followed it up with a solid 197 effort after early trouble. In the third game he started with a seven bagger before a single pin bought his run to an end. That seemed to break his concentration with a split in the next frame but he closed the tenth for a top 244 game.

Jason Osborne maintained his excellent form of late with a 650 block in the same league after games of 236-211 while Ian Hazzard rolled an even 700 series with games of 202-242-256. Also doing well in the Doubles were Pat Cass 242, Ray Tyquin 203, Henry Phillips 202 and Marilyn Schwenke 212.

After a mini-slump, by his normal high standards at least, Mark Lijic got back on track with a standout 684 series in the always high-scoring Friday Triples thanks to games of 205-220-259.

It was a hot night with a total of eight players cracking the 600 barrier. David Hayward and Aldo Belmonte both shot 621 with Hayward firing 210-221 and Belmonte 202-202-217.

Also bowling well were Tim Irwin 234 (619), Jason Osborne 214-206 (615), Joe Werner 218 (610), Chris Collins 235 (609) and Les Gunner 201-234 (604).

Other worthy games were turned in by Henry Phillips 215, Greg Perry 211, Mario Mastronardi 200-201, Stan Streatfeild 201 and Tony Richards 212.

Things were looking up in the Wednesday 10am league with personal best games rolled by Marie Rosser 222 (after 16 years), Chris Elkington 201 and Kieran Selwood 202.

Belinda Irwin shot a good 247 game in the Tuesday Ladies Singles ahead of Melanie Brown 204, Sharon Trudgett 214, Tennille Smith 202-204 and Judy Streatfeild 223.

In the Wednesday 7.30 teams league William Harvey led the pack with a 217 from Alan Collins 200-201, Alan Hudson 201, Bruce Clements 205 and Ian Carr 203.

In the Friday 6pm league Jenny Finnerty bowled a nice 211 game while from an unknown league (no details were supplied) high games were produced by Keri Priest 202, Debbie Seers 202 and Dianne Kjoller 201.

Wally Price was in dynamic form in the Monday Scratch Singles pulling up just a handful of pins short of a 1300 six game block. Price started brilliantly with 249-226-202 (667) then closed with 198-225-195 (618) for a 1295 series.

Jason Belmonte was solid with games of 211-224-200 (624/3) while Les Gunner also bowled well for 215-203-212 (630/3). Other good games included Mark Lijic 217-210-205 (826/4), Jason Brown 201, Chris Collins 220, David Rosser 201, Tim Irwin 212-211, Richard Nelson 212 and Joe Werner 223.

Personal best games this week were bowled by Natasha Lijic 122, Nathan Hayes 116, Nathan Mozley 199, Mitchell Cunich 134, Stevie White 102, Michael Price 137 plus a turkey and Bryan Clements 127.
