It was the Mark Lijic show at the Orange Tenpin Bowl again this week, with the star bowler featuring heavily in two leagues.
In the Friday night Triples league, Lijic went to work and was in great form, pushing out games of 236-235-257 for a hot 728 series that lifted his average back to a huge 221 mark.
In the final round of the Monday Scratch Singles Lijic started well with a 259, dipped just below par for a 198 in game two, then shot 226 and a great 278 that gave him a very impressive 961/4 block. He coasted home over the last two games and finished the night with a 1313/6 series.
Lijic finished the league with a 209 average over 124 games and won by a handy 60 points from Jason Belmonte.
Belmonte was in mixed from on the last night, throwing a couple of shockers but three top efforts in 238 and a closing pair of 249 games. He ended the league with a 205 average.
Others to do well in the last round were third placegetter Wally Price 218-213-204 (624/3), June Reil 219, Mick Moorby 236 (603/3), Les Gunner 211-205, Tim Irwin 207 and Bindy Irwin 214.
Deaf champion David Hayward is back near his best form and as a sub in the Singles fired a middle four games of 207-227-202-222 (848/4) as he ran up a 1225/6 series.
In the Friday Triples Hayward was also very impressive with 235-202-223 for a 660 series. Others to break 600 in that league were current City Champion John Cooney 200-232 (603) and current Masters champion David Rosser 216-215 (606).
Also shooting above 200 were Chris Collins 214, Brian Baker 205, Les Gunner 204-201, Tim Irwin 203, Mick Moorby 220, Mario Mastronardi 202-200, June Reil 226, Marilyn Schwenke 200, Judy Streatfeild 202 and Paul West 204.
Dianne Gee was in good form in the Wednesday Doubles, rolling games of 213-235-200 for a 648 series.
Ian Hazzard shot 234-224-213 for a 671 series while Wally Price fired 242-204 for a 620 trio. Other good games came from Glenn Robinson 206, Henry Phillips 212, Debbie Seers 203, Andrew Pinkstone 204, Dianne Hazzard 205, Anthony Ruggiero 204 and Rod Thomas 204.
Jonathan Thatcher rolled an excellent 860/4 series in the Sunday restricted Singles with games of 232-211-232 while Chris Fuller shot a nice 248 and Col Edwards 226.
Thatcher maintained the form in the following Doubles league with 204-201 while Mick Moorby shot a 200.
Murray Carey went 86 over average in the Sunday Sabbath league for a personal best 219 game while John Rapley rolled 220 and William Harvey 210.
Personal best games this week included Kelly Flood 180 (50 over average), Mel Fowler 147 (50 over average), Kiel Trudgett 166, Luke Abbott 150-168 and Natasha Lijic 111.

As you would have seen from the great coverage in Wednesday's CWD, AMF World Cup champion and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Maxine Nable visited the Orange Bowl on Tuesday to conduct some coaching clinics.
During her visit Nable drew the winning ticket in a bowling ball competition which was won by Melissa Broom from th4 Thursday 4:30 junior league.

The results of the fourth round of the Central West Pennants held between Orange and Bathurst recently have been received.
As expected, Orange won all six divisions held locally while the teams that travelled to Bathurst also did well, winning five of the six grades with only the men's number three team missing out.
The men's ones got home by 16 points with Les Gunner topping the averages on 195 ahead of Alan Collins and John Rapley on 185 and Chris Collins 172.
The team had one inspired moment with a sizzling team game of 916 after individual efforts of Rapley 266, Gunner 258, Alan Collins 202 and Chris Collins 190. Other high games included Chris Collins 212, Gunner 205-201-202 and Rapley 200.
The men's two cruised home by 35 points, dropping just he last game to their opponents. Jon Thatcher averaged 180 from Trevor Auliff 176, Bob Waddell 175 and Allan Priest 162. Priest's seven wins from eight was best for the team while high games came from Thatcher 204, Waddell 210 and Auliff 214.
The junior boys won comfortably by 47 pins against considerably less experience opponents. For Orange Jason Belmonte won all eight matches and he averaged 200 after games of 226-200-216-208-213. Orange's other players also did well with former junior City Champion Greg Perry averaging 179 ahead of Tim Irwin 175 and Kiel Bugden.
High games form that trio were Bugden 206, Irwin 213-203-236 and Perry 211-221.
After being the bridesmaids for so many years, the Orange ladies ones continued their dominance of the past two seasons with a strong 22 point win over arch-rivals Bathurst.
Marilyn Schwenke averaged 177 from Dianne Gee 167, Karen Sharp 160 and Maree Brown 157. Gee won seven matches while two high games were turned in by Schwenke 234-214.
Tennille Smith (174 average and seven victories) and State champion Clare Hodgson (172) led the ladies twos to a solid 8 point win over their rivals, dropping the last two matches after a strong opening. Niki Stones averaged 151 while Leanne McKell was way below her best on 133.
Stones' 210 was best for her team while Smith shot a 201 game.
The junior girls whitewashed their opponents, winning all eight matches as they romped home by 38 points. Rebecca Belmonte was in outstanding form with a 196 average and seven wins.
Belinda Irwin and Melanie Brown also won seven games each and averaged 165 and 175 respectively while Sarah Wilson averaged 124. High games were bowled by Belmonte 210-242-235 (653/3) and Brown 215.
In Bathurst, Orange's men's threes suffered a 13 point loss ut still bowled reasonably well. Frank McGovern averaged 173 from Allan Kinghorne 164 and William Harvey 142.
The men's fours won by 11 in a strong showing, with Gary Johnson averaging 169 ahead of Trevor Rowney 166 and Leo McKay 162. High games were Johnson 201, Rowney 210 and McKay 212.
The mixed adults team won by 5 points with Lyn Priest averaging 151, Andrew Lennard 150 and Peter Kent 126.
The ladies threes stormed home to grab a narrow three point win with Doreen Thurtell the standout on a 141 mark from Jan Peters 124 and Marie Rosser 121.
Brigitte Eden and Vivienne Chaston were impressive, averaging 145 and 144 respectively for the ladies fours as that team won by 8 points. Chaston was in fine touch capturing all six matches. Kathy Aurisch meanwhile was below her best on 118.
Finally, the mixed juniors saw an 8 point win to Orange. Cameron Burley bowled well to average 149 while Kristin Byrnes finished on 107 and Trent Rosser 95.
Round five of the Pennants between Bathurst and Dubbo will be held next Sunday.
