Nine teams through to pennants final

Orange won six of the ten divisions contested in the final qualifying round of the Central West Tenpin Pennants series held last Sunday against Bathurst.
All five male teams tasted victory in Orange while just one female team who travelled to Bathurst, the Ones, managed to win.
At the end of the qualifying rounds, Orange has an impressive nine teams in the final compared to six from Dubbo and five from Bathurst.
The men's ones ended the qualifying rounds in fine fashion, beating their Bathurst opponents by 33 points. Allan Collins, who topped the Orange Pennants average list this year, was best player with a 190 average and six wins, including games of 202-233-209.
Just behind him was Jason Osborne with a 189 average and six victories from his eight matches including games of 214-234-220-230. Henry Phillips won all eight games with a 183 average and 211 high game while Les Gunner averaged 169.
The men's twos led all the way for a 14 point win and were best served by Chris Collins, who fired games of 212-210-212-202-221 for a 195 average. he had six wins and a draw. Other averages were Trevor Auliff 177, Bob Waddell 169 and Col Edwards 161. Auliff rolled high games of 205-212 while Waddell shot an even 200.
James Dubbelde and William Harvey led the threes to a 15 point victory after respectively averaging 172 and 171. Dubbelde, who won six games, rolled high scores of 203-201 while Brian Shaw, who averaged 169, fired a nice 221. Frank McGovern meanwhile averaged 146.
Anthony Knudsen shot a 208 games on the way to a 175 average, the best for the men's fours who defeated Bathurst by 1 points. Andrew Lennard averaged 170 with a 200 high score ahead of Nick Gray 158 and Allan Kinghorne 153. Knudsen and Lennard both won six games.
The Orange juniors scored a comfortable 22 point win, led by Tim Irwin with a 184 average and games of 222-224. David Rosser averaged 177 with games of 222-201 and won all eight matches while Jason Belmonte was well below his best with a 169 average. Glenn Thurston meanwhile average 131.
In Bathurst, the women's ones were the only team to win, getting home by 6 points. Marilyn Schwenke did well to win five games with a 174 average and 209 high game ahead of Julie Wilson (160), Maree Brown (157) and Sharon Trudgett (157).
The twos lost by 26 points and were best served by Clare Hodgson (148 average) and Lyn Egan (146) with the former winning five times. Jenni Huthnance average 138 and Kerrie Auliff 123.
The threes copped a 27 point defeat and unfortunately were the only Orange team to miss a place in the final. In the last round the team was best served by Fay West with a 140 average ahead of Marie Rosser and Jan Peters who both finished on 139 and Karen Truslove who averaged 117.
The fours also lost by 27 points with Julia McBride topping her teams averages with 140 ahead of Kathy Aurisch 132, Jan Barby 125 and Denise Eslick 122.
Despite a handy 173 average from Rhearne Trudgett, the junior girls missed out by a single point. Melanie Brown averaged 159 ahead of Rebecca Belmonte 143 and Tahnia Seers 141.
The Pennants final will be held on 8 November.
Junior Jason Belmonte hit peak form during the last week, shooting two 700 three game series in the space of four days. In the Friday Triples Belmonte fired games of 239-211-227 for an impressive 727 series and followed that up in the Monday Scratch Singles with games of 237-222-247 for a 706 block.
Two other relatively unknown bowlers were star performers this week. Naurelle Smith rolled a personal best 252 game in the Tony Leahey Ford Monday 10am Triples which was a massive 107 pins over average while Adam Richards shot a personal best 246 in the Sunday Doubles.
Apart from Belmonte's excellent series in the Friday Triples, other good scores were bowled by Ray Tyquin 200-245 (628/3), Mario Mastronardi 234 and a 609/3 series plus Mark Lijic with 209-206 and a 605 trio.
Also making their presence felt were Ross Caltabiano 209, John Cooney 225, Les Gunner 216, Val Irwin 234, Steve Reil 201 twice and Tony Richards 209-212.
June Bryant was the only player to top 1200/6 in the Monday Scratch Singles, beating that mark by seven pins after closing the night with games of 216-208-234 (658). Other good games were recorded by Les Gunner 233-204-203 (609/3), Steve Reil 213-223-211 (823/4), Mark Lijic 216-215, Jason Osborne 246 and John Cooney 218.
High games in the Sunday Doubles were bowled by Aaron Osborne 200, Jason Osborne 205, Norm Tandy 214 and Tony Langham 205 while Daryl Barlow rolled a 211 in the Sabbath League.
Karen Sharp maintained her recent good form in the Tuesday Ladies Singles with a 224 while other notable efforts included Bonnea Wiseman 221, Dianne Gee 203-212-208, Maree Brown 211, Sharon Trudgett 201 and Rhearne Trudgett 210.
Andy Scully bowled a nice 222 game in the Monday 6:30 while the Blakeleys were the only players to rate a mention in the Monday Mixed Singles with Phil shooting 236 and son Paul 210-202. Earlier in the day Judy Louie rolled a 210 in the 10am Triples.
In the Wednesday 7:30 league Bruce Clements bowled a 222 while in the Doubles league high games came from John Cooney 212, Glenn Robinson 201-212, Henry Phillips 205-201, Dianne gee 214, Dave Gunner 210 and Wally Price 235.
Personal best games this week included Joel Wiseman 192, Mitchell Cunich 119, Kathy Quommo 102, Nicole MacCorquodale 192, Craig Priest 175 and a turkey, Kimberley Mackin 121, Katy Maw 135 and Emmah Logan 141.
