On September 8th, 1999, Monica lost her three-sets match to Serena Williams. But she would not want her true fans to be sad, but rather to acknowledge Serena for her effort in winning the match. Monica always looks for ways to be positive about everything.
True Monica fans will not love her any less. In fact, I love her every bit as much as I did before, if not more.
If you have any words of consolation or encoragement for Monica, please email me at [email protected], and I will print them out, and send them directly to her house. That way she will be sure to get them.
I would like to send them all at once, to make more of an impression.
I am also going to send her a homemade trophy, just for her being herself, and for being a role model to kids, and adults, all over the world. It's sad that in tennis, you only get the trophy for getting the ball to go on one side of the line instead of the other. There are so many other things to be rewarded for, and Monica has done it all.
She is a true humanitarian. She is an inspiration to literally thousands of people around the world. (She even brought me out of suicidal tendencies back in the early 90s.)
