Q. What is your feeling after spending a whole day on the court?
MARK PHILIPPOUSSIS: It's not a great feeling, but he had to
do the
same thing. It's not easy. Got here at 9. He also got here at 9. It's tough
getting ready to go out each time after a rain delay.
That's what tennis is all about. That's how it goes.
Q. Mark, will you look at this as a match that
got away from you? At the
end of the third set, you were looking pretty comfortable.
MARK PHILIPPOUSSIS: Yes. I guess if you're two sets to Love
up,
you definitely think the match got away from you. Two sets up to Love,
had breakpoint opportunities in the third, should have capitalized on it,
not
hung around for ten hours.
Q. Can you explain what went wrong?
MARK PHILIPPOUSSIS: Well, I mean, I just a bit of loose points
here
and there. The guy played good tennis. Have to hand it to him. A lot of
unforced errors. He was pretty solid. Came up with some good shots when
he needed it.
Q. How disappointing is that for you, Mark, that
loss?
MARK PHILIPPOUSSIS: It's extremely disappointing, especially
like I
said, being up two sets to Love, having these opportunities. It's different,
you know.
Losing in straight, I would have preferred losing in straight, getting
out of
here, than being here all day and losing like that.
Like I said, that's how it goes.
Q. Mark, you've won five other tournaments, but your Gran Slam results
haven't quite been up to the sort of ATP events. What do you feel you
need to do to translate those sort of results to the big four?
MARK PHILIPPOUSSIS: I think I've got to win some more matches
when I'm playing in Slam tournaments.
Q. What did you do with yourself in the breaks?
MARK PHILIPPOUSSIS: Just in the locker room, waiting for the
announcement to see when you're going to play, stretch again, have
another shower, change. Just pretty much the same thing.
