As this is our final matchday magazine of the season, it is surely time for a few thank-yous for everything over the year.
As always, publication of the matchday magazine hasnt been without its hiccups, specifically the vagaries of the good old Welsh weather, which has forced the cancellation of several matches and subsequently disrupted the publication of the programme. Nevertheless, the matchday magazine has followed a similar format over the season, with a range of different articles on different aspects of Welsh football.
There has been a regular look around the League of Wales as a whole, with the Around the League articles and up-to-date results shown in the LoWdown. There has also been analysis of our opponents Season So Far, with their results and appearances included in that. Our previous results against each other, as well as the oppositions record in the League of Wales have been published in the Facts and Figures page, while there has been a match report of When We Last Met.
The events of this time in previous years have been remembered in the Looking Back articles, while our forthcoming visitors were previewed In Town Next. Weve also taken a regular look at Todays League of Wales fixtures. Meanwhile up-to-date news has been provided From the Dragons Mouth and in the Supporters Club notes, with our opponents History and Pen-Pictures providing some extra information on our visitors.
The Europhiles article has remained a regular article, as has the Junior Dragons and the Results and Fixtures page. In addition, there have been further articles, reminding us of previous cup winning seasons in the Gilbert Cup, reviews of the different cup competitions and a month-by-month look back at the events of the year.
Having provided a brief summary of the years work, it may be worthwhile offering a few thanks to people; to Chris Aust as editor of the programme, to Tim Johnson for the Supporters Club Notes and the Europhiles page, to Freya White for the Junior Dragons page, to Del for his articles, and, last but not least, to Mel Thomas of Soccerfile Wales for all of the work he has put in, compiling statistics for our matchday magazine and for the League of Wales as a whole. There are far too many articles which have been reliant on Mels analysis to name them all, but his work has simplified so much material, and saved so much time for everyone involved.
However, even at the end of the season, there is no time for self-congratulation, and everyone involved is well aware of the deficiencies of our matchday magazine. As always, we hope that the Summer will provide ample time to iron out the problems, and to work towards producing a better magazine next season.
Of course, this is where you, the reader, come in. What sort of articles do you want to see in the matchday magazine? Do you have any suggestions of what should feature in next seasons programme? Would you be able to lend a hand next season in order to produce a better magazine?
We would welcome any suggestions for articles, and offers for help with next years magazine. So, please, if you have any ideas, dont keep them to yourselves, but drop a note in to the club offices on Barry Road, addressed to the programme editor. Dont be shy!
Finally, of course, thank you all very much for buying the matchday magazine, and everyone at the club hopes that you will continue next season.
