Inter's opening match of the season saw them travel to Aberystwyth Town, where they were unlucky not to get all three points. Inter took the lead through Simon Dyer after 51 minutes, but Aber hit back in injury time when Martyn Griffiths equalised. Inter again through the lead away on the following Tuesday when they played Carmarthen Town at Leckwith Stadium. Sean Wharton put the Cardiff side ahead after only 8 minutes, but Carmarthen hit back, winning the game 2-1.
A second home defeat followed soon after, with Inter, like Barry, falling prey to the newly-promoted Afan Lido. Inter lost 1-0. However, better things were to come with a 1-0 away win at Haverfordwest County. Steve Mardenborough's goal after 30 minutes separated the two sides.
That was just a break from the League of Wales routine, though, as Inter slumped to two consecutive league defeats. At home to Cwmbran Town, former Barry boy, Chris Pike scored the only goal of the game as Inter lost 1-0, while at Conwy, in North Wales, Inter found themselves on the wrong end of the 3-0 scoreline.
In October, Inter earnt their first point at home, when Dean Philpott's 13th minute goal ensured a 1-1 draw with Connah's Quay Nomads, the North Walians equalising 2 minutes later. Meanwhile, Inter also won a hard-fought point at Caernarfon Town, battling the weather as well as the gutsy home side. Simon Dyer's goal just before half-time was the point saver.
November started on a bright note, though. At home to Caersws on a Sunday afternoon, everything clicked in the home side, as they romped to a 6-0 victory over the mid-Wales village side. Paul Evans opened the scoring after only 4 minutes, with Sean Wharton making it 2-0 after another five minutes had passed. That concluded the scoring for the first half, but Inter put Caersws to the sword in the second half. Jamie Murray grabbed a brace, scoring after 59 and 68 minutes, before late goals from Simon Dyer and Samir Misbah ended the goalscoring.
That impressive goalscoring feat was followed up a week later away at Rhayader. Simon Dyer's 32nd minute goal saw Inter go into the break with a goal advantage, and Paul Evans, Wayne David, Sean Wharton, and, finally, Dyer again, made it an impressive 5-0 victory over the LoW's bottom side.
Also unconvincing was the LoW return to Leckwith, where Sean Wharton's 80th minute goal cancelled out a Total Network Solutions penalty in a 1-1 draw. However, traveling away to Newtown for a League of Wales match, they comfortably won 3-1. Richard Williams put Inter ahead after two minutes, but the Robins soon hit back. Two goals from Davies, after 15 and 55 minutes, clinched the game, though.
Switching venues to Bangor City's Farrar Road, Inter were unlucky at the beginning of December. The only goal in the match was a 47th minute penalty, converted by Bangor goalkeeper, Leigh Williams.
Nevertheless, Inter have had better luck in North Wales on the following two occasions. At Holywell Town, home defender, Philip Hinchcliffe, scored an own goal for Inter in the first half, before Paul Evans made it 2-0 early in the second half. Holywell scored a late consolation goal.
Last weekend, Inter were at Rhyl's Belle Vue, winning 2-1. Paul Evans put the Cardiff team ahead early in the second half, and Norman Parselle sealed victory with a minute to go. Like Holywell, Rhyl scored a late consolation goal.
Inter's recent League of Wales form fits in neatly with their success in all cup competitions this year, and they are still involved in all three. In the Welsh Cup, a 76th minute goal from Richard David, ensured victory over Holywell Town in the third round, and earnt a home draw with CCSports League side, Pontardawe Town, in the fourth round.
Meanwhile, Dai Withers got Inter off to a flying start away to Aberystwyth in the first round of the Gilbert League of Wales Cup, the Cardiff side eventually winning 2-1. In the second round, they drew away at Cwmbran Town. The winner of the replay on 6th January will meet Barry in the semi-final of the compeition.
Inter have also qualified for the last eight of the F.A.W Premier Cup, and bar a fluke scoreline, should see themselves earn a home draw as winners of Group C of the competition. Opening with an away match at Newtown, the home side took a 2 goal lead before Samir Misbah scored a consolation goal.
However, Inter got off to a winning start at home. John Wile gave Inter the lead, but Connah's Quay Nomads took a 2-1 lead, with John Kenworthy scoring from 40 yards. Ignoring that feat, Inter ground out a result with two late goals. Samir Misbah scored their second goal, while Paul Evans celebrated his return to the club by scoring in the last minute for a 3-2 victory. Inter made it a double over the North Walian side, beating them 3-0 in torrential conditions in North Wales. Paul Evans scored the first goal, an own goal from Kenworthy was the second, before Sean Wharton fired home the third.
Inter were equally confident against Cwmbran Town, winning home and away in the Premier Cup. in Cardiff, goals from Steve Mardenborough and Simon Dyer ensured victory, while at Cwmbran Stadium, two goals from Paul Evans were complemented by another goal from Wharton. In their final game of the group, Inter lost 1-0 at home to Newtown. The mid-Walians need to win their final game by 10 goals to win the group.
