As can be seen from their playing record this term, Caersws have had a very mixed beginning to the season. Prior to their visit to Carmarthen last Saturday, the Bluebirds had won their first two home League of Wales matches, earnt a draw at newly-promoted Holywell, lost to local rivals Total Network Solutions, and, of course, lost at home to Barry in the league.

Their season began with an excellent 2-0 victory over Bangor City in the League of Wales, especially ironic with Bangor having dubbed their fellow 'Blues' as their 'bogey' side. A 37th minute goal from Craig Edwards set Caersws on their way, with Hugh Clarke, returning from Rhayader, scoring the second after 55 minutes.

That was followed by a 0-0 draw at Halkyn Road against Holywell Town, with the home side earning their second draw of the season.

Again away from home, the Bluebirds traveled to Llansantffraid, where, despite Clarke's 49th minute goal, they went down 2-1 to T.N.S.

Better times came, though, when they entertained Rhyl at the Recreation Ground. Mark Howells netted after only 4 minutes for the home side. That was followed soon after, when Damon Russell scored after 16 minutes. The Bluebirds third goal came on the stroke of half-time through Sean Jehu. Even a consolation Rhyl goal couldn't dampen spirits in a convincing 3-1 victory.

With no match due to the expulsion of Ebbw Vale, Caersws's following matches were Barry's two visits to the Recreation Ground. The game in the League of Wales Cup was, of course, drawn 2-2, with Damon Russell and Geraint Lewis scoring for Caersws, while Barry triumphed 4-2 on the following Saturday, with a Gary Lloyd own goal and a consolation goal from Sean Jehu for the mid-Walian side.
