EBBW VALE 2 BARRY TOWN 2
Paul Evans 2

Barrys first visit to Ebbw Vale in the League of Wales ended as a 2-2 draw, with only a small crowd watching the midday kick off. Barry came from behind twice, with Vales Simon Tyler scoring both goals for the Gwent side. Ebbws first goal came after 13 minutes, when Tyler chased a long ball and found the net, with Barry equalising just before the half-hour, a corner finding its way to the feet of Paul Evans who netted. However, Ebbw were 2-1 up at the break, with Tyler also scoring from a corner. It was midway through the second half when Barry scored the equalising goal for a point. A goalmouth melee eventually led to Evans putting the ball in the net.

BARRY TOWN 1 CWMBRAN TOWN 1
Terry Evans

Terry Evans first goal for Barry came at an appropriate moment as he saved Barrys 25-match unbeaten run. Cwmbran had taken the lead in the second minute of this League Cup quarter-final, when a cross from the right had taken an unexpected bobble and went into the net off Willie Batchelors shin. Now holding an invaluable away goal, Cwmbran organised their defence and Barry were unable to get into position to shoot. It was in the 70th minute that the right-back found the net. Carrying the ball forward from his own half, the visitors defence stood off, and spotting a gap, Evans let fly from 25 yards, earning Barry a draw, and deflating the Crows.

BARRY TOWN 4 WELSHPOOL TOWN 0
Tony Bird 2, Darren Ryan, Chris Pike

Barry eased to victory over the mid-Walian side, who were struggling near the bottom of the League of Wales. Tony Bird scored the opening goal after only four minutes, and from then on there was little contest. There were, however, not further goals until the break, but after then, Darren Ryan beat the defence to score, while Chris Pike was presented with an easy chance to make it 3-0 to the Dragons. As time began to run out, Tony Bird again found himself in a good position, and with eight minute to play, he rounded off the scoring at 4-0.

14.02.1998 WELSH CUP FOURTH ROUND
KNIGHTON TOWN 0 BARRY TOWN 8
Eifion Williams 4, Craig Evans 2, Chris Pike, Gary Lloyd

Barry were drawn away at Cymru Alliance, Knighton Town, in the fourth round of last seasons Welsh Cup. The Radnor Robins had figured strongly in the league, and had defeated Conwy 4-1 in the third round. They were no match for Barry, though. The only goal in the first half came in the 14th minute, when a Terry Evans cross from the right was met by Eifion Williams. However, the second half saw a barnstorming Barry performance, with three goals coming in the five minutes after the restart. Williams added another three goals in this second half, as well as hitting the woodwork twice, Chris Pike scored, and knocked himself out against a post, Gary Lloyd let fly with a spectacular effort after a thirty yard run, while Craig Evans also found the net on two occasions, giving Barry a comfortable win.
