08.10.1994 LEAGUE OF WALES FLINT TOWN UNITED (0) 1 BARRY TOWN (1) 3 D.Emmett; A.Gorman, R.Jones, P.Evans
Following recent difficulties, Barry achieved their result of the season so far at Flint's newly-built 'Cae-y-Castell' stadium. To all intents and purposes the game was Barry's from the start, as the team were instilled with a new steel and confidence, resulting in Andy Gorman's thirty yard strike in the fifteenth minute. Richard Jones added Barry's second goal in the forty-sixth minute, while the newly re-signed Paul Evans secured the points in the seventy-ninth minute, even though six minutes later, Darren Emmett scored a consolation goal for the home side. Nevertheless, Barry's first win in more than a month was a cause for celebration. Perhaps the season was looking up.
07.10.1995 LEAGUE OF WALES
CONWY UNITED (0) 0 BARRY TOWN (2) 2
C.Griffith 2
With Conwy unbeaten and top of the League of Wales, this was the acid test for the newly professional Barry Town. Luckily, Barry passed it with flying colours. Conwy started the game well, hitting the crossbar as early as the sixth minute. It wasn't long after, though, that Barry held their first attack. Resulting in a corner, the Conwy defence failed to adequately clear, and Cohen Griffith's shot rebounded off a number of legs and ended up in the bottom of the net. With the bit between their teeth, Barry upped the tempo, until Griffith again found himself in space in the 20th minute and converted the opportunity. With Barry guarding against complacency, Conwy never really hauled themselves back into the game, and Barry came away from the Morfa with all 3 points.
02.10.1996 LEAGUE OF WALES EBBW VALE (1) 1 BARRY TOWN (1) 1 S.Tyler D.Ryan
Ebbw Vale's largest ever League of Wales crowd, 589, attended Eugene Cross Park to watch Barry take on the Cowboys from the Steel Town. It does need to be added that there were 150-200 traveling fans, flushed by European success in previous weeks, but there were a large number of home fans in attendance. Under the management of John Lewis, Vale fought tigerishly for every ball, and perhaps deserved their goal when Tyler escaped the attentions of the Barry defence and netted. However, Barry soon forced their way back into the match, with Darren Ryan scoring in the 35th minute. As time ticked by, a draw looked more likely, especially with on-pitch tensions fraying. In fact, it was a surprise that both teams ended with a full complement of players, especially after a foul in the Ebbw Vale penalty area was given in Barry's favour. Chris Pike stepped up to take the 70th minute penalty, but former Barry keeper, Steve Morris, did well to save and earn his side a point.
04.10.1997 LEAGUE OF WALES
CEMAES YNYS MON (0) 0 BARRY TOWN (1) 3
C.Pike 2, D.Huggins
With hindsight, the result in this match was that which was expected, but at the time, it was a very close affair. Indeed, it was closer than the result suggests. Cemaes' sloping School Lane pitch never helped sides to produce good football, especially when combined with the heavy winds which circled the ground. Barry's opening goal came from the boots of Chris Pike in the 34th minute, and it remained at a fragile 1-0 lead until late in the match. Pike was again able to get between the defence in 85th minute, and with the home side visibly tiring, Barry substitute, Dean Huggins also found the net to make it 3-0. Barry deserved the margin of victory, but the home side made them work all the way for the points.
