Carmarthen Town had a well deserved victory at Richmond Park, but one which was overshadowed by the injuries sustained by Barry 'keeper, Andy Dibble, at the game. Traces of lime were found on the penalty spots at the Carmarthen ground, and after diving upon them, Dibble, on loan at Barry from Altrincham, was rushed to Morriston Hospital to receive skin grafts.
The match itself saw an unusual Barry side take to the field, with vital experience being gained by some of the younger members of the squad.
Both sides had chances early in the game, with Eifion Williams going close for Barry and Adams for Carmarthen Town forcing Dibble into making a save from close range.
Carmarthen took the lead after 21 minutes when former Barry player, Ben Burrows' pass allowed Adams to fire home.
Barry equalised five minutes after the break when Mark Dempsey's corner was met by Lee Barrow who headed home.
Barry continued to attack, and peppered the Carmarthen goal with shots. However, home keeper, Fitzgerald pulled off a number of good saves
However, with nine minutes remaining, Carmarthen hit the winner. The ball was hit from the right and with no Barry defender on hand to clear the ball, it was easy for Dean Rossitter to hit into an empty goal and win the match for the home side, Tomi Morgan's first victorious match in charge for the West Walian club and Barry's first defeat away from home in the LoW this season.
