Attendance: 281Barry and Haverfordwest's first meeting in the Gilbert League Cup saw the Dragons come out on top 2-0 and qualify for the semi-final of the cup.
Nevertheless, Barry had to work hard for their place, not securing victory until the 89th minute of the game.
The Dragons actually took the lead as early as the 4th minute of the match. A long ball from keeper David Wells was knocked down by Justin Perry and Eifion Williams fired a hard, low shot past County keeper, Neil Frederickson.
The match was essentially a battle for midfield superiority, with Haverfordwest working hard to prevent Barry from reaching striking positions. They contained the Barry forward play very well, preventing the home side from increasing their advantage. However, the numbers given over to this meant that they were unable to capitalise on any advantages further up the field, with Barry keeper Dave Wells being little more than a spectator for much of the match.
Injury-time saw Barry finally go two-nil ahead and secure their place in the last four. Haverfordwest gave away position on their left flank, and Danny Carter advanced forward, before sending a perfect cross into the centre, defeating both defender and keeper and allwing Justin Perry to head home for his second Gilbert Cup goal of the season.
