A goal from Eifion Williams, only a minute before the break, was the difference between the Dragons and the Nomads when they met at Jenner Park for a League of Wales clash four weeks ago.

The two clubs had met in the League of Wales the previous September, and despite horrendous weather conditions at the new Deeside Stadium, Barry had bossed the game, scoring three first-half goals and taking all three points.

The match last month was very different, with both clubs creating a number of good chances for their top strikers, Barrys Eifion Williams and Nomads Jamie Hughes.

Mark Dempsey had Barrys opening chance, firing over the bar with a shot from 25 yards. Williams went close only minute later, when a cross from Lee Barrow saw Avo in space at the front post, but his flick on/shot fell in between the goal and a Barry player challenging for the ball.

Richard Jones also went close, as with the ball partially cleared he hit a strong half-volley which forced Nomads keeper, Phil Collister into a low dive. Eifion went just as close minutes later, as he found himself in space in the Nomads defence, but his shot went narrowly wide of the far post.

Connahs Quays best opportunity of the first half fell to Jamie Hughes, who beat three defenders before forcing Dave Wells into a save. However, Barry quickly turned defence into attack, and Richard Jones cross from the right found Eifion Williams drifting into space between Carl Smyth and Jamie Jardine and made for an easy finish from close range.

Connahs Quay had more of the possession and chances in the second half. A 20-yard shot from Jamie Hughes forced Wells to save at the second attempt, while Jon Kenworthy shot just wide.

Barry could have added to their lead when Justin Perry set up Eifion Williams, but after beating Collister, the angle was too tight for Eifion to shoot.

A bit of luck saw Jamie Hughes again in possession in the Barry penalty area, but with Dave Wells beaten by his shot it came off the post and went to safety. Hughes had yet another opportunity to draw the Nomads level, but his shot on the turn went over the bar, giving Barry a 1-0 win and all three points.
