From the Dragon's Mouth

Barry Town v Aberystwyth Town
League of Wales, 19th December, 1998

WELCOME

Good afternoon, and welcome to Jenner Park for today's League of Wales match between Barry Town A.F.C.and Aberystwyth Town AFC. On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to extend greetings to everyone at today's match, but especially to the players, officials and supporters of Aberystwyth. We hope that you enjoy your time in Barry, and that we all see an entertaining match this afternoon, as is usual in games between our two clubs.

CROESO

Croeso i Barc Jenner a'r gem bwysig yn y Gynghrair Genedlaethol. Ar ran pawb yn y dref, hoffwn i estyn croeso cynnes i'r chwaraewyr, swyddogion a chefnogwyr ein ymwelwyr heddiw, Clwb Pel-Droed Aberystwyth. Mwynhewch y gem. Cewch siwrnai ddiogel adref heno.

WELSH CUP DRAW

Following our successful Welsh Cup home victory against Haverfordwest County last month, we have been drawn at home to Connah's Quay Nomads in the Fourth round. Connah's Quay are, of course, familiar Welsh Cup opponents, having knocked us out of the Cup at the semi-final stage last year. Let's hope that we can get our revenge.

That match is on Saturday, 13th February, 1999.

GROUP OF DEATH TOP SPOT

After our 3-1 victory over Caernarfon Town last Tuesday, Barry finished top of the so-called 'Group of Death' in the F.A.W Premier Cup. Having won four of our six matches, and drawn one of the other games, we have thirteen points and finish above both Swansea City and Wrexham. As winners of the group, we'll receive home advantage in the quarter-final, which'll be played in the New Year.

COMING UP

Not just Christmas, but some tasty matches here at Jenner Park. On Boxing Day, i.e next Saturday, 26th December, we entertain Inter Cabletel here at Jenner Park. Inter have undergone a resurgence in recent weeks, and will be strong opponents. Please note the early kick-off of 11:30 a.m., and be here on time!

The New Year's celebrations will hopefully have receded enough for you to be here the following Saturday as well. The first match of 1999 is on Saturday, 2nd January, when Cwmbran Town are the visitors to Jenner Park. At the time of writing, the Crows are second in the League of Wales table, and we could hardly ask for tougher opponents to begin the New Year with!

On 9th January, we play our first away match of the New Year, traveling to Conwy United. For information on travel, please consult the Supporters' Club Notes between now and the New Year.

Enjoy today's match, and Merry Christmas from everyone at Barry Town A.F.C.
the Yellow Dragon.
