GILBERT CUP SUCCESS

Goals at the beginning and end of last week's Gilbert League of Wales Cup ensured our passage to the semi-finals of the League Cup. Eifion Williams's 4th minute goal put our noses in front, while an 89th minute header from Justin Perry settled the tie.

Barry'll be playing the winners of the other South Walian quarter-final between Cwmbran Town and Inter Cable-tel. The first match of that tie was played last Wednesday, but ended in a scoreless draw, between two sides who had scored ten goals each in their previous two matches! The replay date will be confirmed in the near future.

In North Wales, Bangor City thrashed Newtown 5-0, with new signing Tommy Mutton scoring twice, while in the other tie, Caernarfon beat Total Network Solutions 2-1.

The semi-finals will take place in March, 1999.

COMING UP

This Saturday continues our run of Cup matches, as we entertain Haverfordwest County in the Welsh Cup Third Round. Prior to Saturday, the Bluebirds, who feature former Barry boss, Eddie May, as Director of Football, were in fourth spot in the League of Wales, and will be more than up for the match, which should they win, will provide them with an excellent opportunity of a cup run, and perhaps even a place in Europe.

The following Monday, 23rd, we visit Wrexham's Racecourse, for another FAW Premier Cup match.

Should we draw with Haverfordwest in the Welsh Cup, then the replay date may well be next Wednesday, 25th November. Please check local press and future matchday magazines, as well as listening to all stadium tanny announcements.

For all travel arrangements, please consult the Supporters' Club Travel Notes.

Enjoy the match,
the Yellow Dragon.
