Barry v Merthyr Tydfil

F.A.W Premier Cup, Tuesday, 16th March, 1999.

WELCOME

Good afternoon, and welcome to Jenner Park for today's F.A.W Premier Cup quarter-final tie between Barry Town A.F.C.and Merthyr Tydfil AFC. On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to extend greetings to everyone at today's match, but especially to the players, officials and supporters of Merthyr. We hope that you enjoy your time in Barry, and that we all see an entertaining match this evening, as is usual in games between our two clubs.

CROESO

Croeso i Barc Jenner a'r gem bwysig yn y rownd gogynderfynol Cwpan Cymdeithas Cymru. Ar ran pawb yn y dref, hoffwn i estyn croeso cynnes i'r chwaraewyr, swyddogion a chefnogwyr ein ymwelwyr heddiw, ein hen cymdogion ni, Clwb Pel-Droed Merthyr Tudful, sy'n chwarae yn y Uwch Gynghrair Dr.Martens, sef y chweched lefel yn Lloegr. Mwynhewch y gem, ac yn cael siwrnai ddiogel adref heno.

TONIGHT'S MATCH

Tonight is the first time in 12 months that we've met Merthyr Tydfil, and again in the quarter-final of the F.A.W Premier Cup (nee Invitation Cup).

Last year's match went to extra-time to find a winner, and the same will happen this year if all is level at the end of 90 minutes, with penalty kicks being taken if there is still no winner.

INTO THE LAST FOUR

This is the last of the four quarter-final ties in this year's Premier Cup.

Cardiff City, Inter Cabletel and Wrexham are already through to the semi-finals, following victories in the past few weeks.

Wrexham defeated Newtown 1-0, while Inter thrashed Cwmbran Town 4-0. Meanwhile, Cardiff City had to wait until the final minutes to confirm their place with a 3-2 win over Swansea City.

COMING UP

On Saturday, we make our last League of Wales trip to North Wales, with our first trip in thirty months to Holywell Town's Halkyn Road. Hopefully, we'll improve on the goalless draw in September, 1996. Travel details can be found in the Supporters Club Travel Notes.

We are back at home in LoW action against Rhyl on Saturday, 27th March (see In Town Next), before our Easter derby away at Inter Cabletel on Tuesday, 6th April, and our trip to Haverfordwest County on Saturday, 10th April.

Enjoy tonight's match,
the Yellow Dragon
