After a shock defeat in their previous home game against Afan Lido, it was a
case of normal service being resumed for Barry in front of the Jenner Park
faithful.
They were just too good for Caernarfon and Eifion Williams struck
twice against his old club to take his tally to six in just five LoW games
this season.
Any hopes that Caernarfon had of holding the Champions were well and truly
dashed within the first 11 minutes of the game. Barry came out firing on all
cylinders and it took just minutes for assistant player-coach Richard Jones
to head the Dragons in front. The impressive Mark Dempsey did the spadework
and his accurate cross was nodded in by Jones for open Barry's account.
Six minutes later Williams doubled their advantage with another
demonstration of his clinical finishing power. Jones and Dempsey were
involved again on the
right-hand side and when the ball reached Williams he controlled it and
fired it home.
Williams' second goal, which wrapped up the points, came in the 73rd minute
but before then Caernarfon had been reduced to 10 men. Paul McAndrew was the
player who was shown the red card by Wrexham referee Brian Bevan after he
appeared to bring his foot down on Danny Carter.
Caernarfon struggled to create any chances of note and it was a quiet day
for Barry 'keeper David Wells as his defence gave him an armchair ride.
Barry are now poised ominously in second place in the table and just three
points behind leaders Aberystwyth.
