Barry Town's apparently unassailable lead was challenged by Rhayader, fighting back from lowly 15th place in the table. They held the title favourites in a goal-less first half and then snatched the lead before Barry had settled down after the break.
Rhayader's new 'keeper, Jason Jones, kept Barry out in the first half, saving from Darren Ryan and Lee Barrow.
But with the second half less than a minute old, Rhayader unlocked the Barry defence. Richard Jones, playing his first game after a two month injury lay-off, took on the defence before beating Mark Ovendale with a low shot.
Barry recovered and were back in the game nine minutes later. Eifion Williams headed in at the far post.
And, 10 minutes from the end, Chris Pike's shot took a deflection off Dylan McPhee.
They led for only four minutes. McPhee redeemed himself by heading in at the far post after Romilly Brown and Hugh Clarke had opened up the defence.
