'Shock? We knew we could beat Barry!'

DELIGHTED Connah's Quay Nomads manager Neville Powell dismissed all talk of a Welsh Cup victory over Barry Town being a shock - he claimed that his side's 1-0 victory was on the cards.

Powell, whose side knocked Barry out of the Welsh Cup at the semi-final stage last season, said he thought his team was a match for the runaway League of Wales leaders as soon as the cup draw was made.

"Everyone seemed to believe that it was a big shock, but on our day we can match a team like Barry," said the ecstatic Nomdas manager.

"We knocked them out last season, so I could see no reason why we couldn't do it again."

Stewart Raine's smart finish from Andrew Thomas's floated cross was enough for Quay, though they had to manage with 10 men when Jamie Hughes was sent off for showing his studs after 37 minutes.
