FOLLOWING two successive wins in the last few days, Barry Town are just one win away from clinching their fourth successive League of Wales title, a feat they could achieve on Saturday when they entertain struggling Rhyl at Jenner Park this Saturday. (kick-off 2:30p.m.)
The Dragons, now on 65 points, need another five points to make mathematically sure of winning the league; nearest challengers, Inter Cable Tel and Cwmbran can only amass 69 and 68 points respectively, but if both Inter and Cwmbran fail to win this weekend and Barry beat Rhyl then the title is as good as in the bag.
In a hard fought game on Tuesday night, the Dragons dealt Cwmbran's slim championship hopes a mortal blow when goals from Richard Jones and Mark Dempsey gave the Town all three precious points.
Jones gave Barry the lead when he connected with a Terry Evans cross to head home at the near post. Chris Summers levelled the scores from the penalty spot, but Dempsey popped up to score a rare goal to clinch victory for the Town.
At Holywell on Saturday, the Dragons twice had to come from behind to make sure of all three points. It took an Eifion Williams hat-trick to deny the North Walians as they struggle to avoid the drop.
Saturday's hat-trick takes the League of Wales hot shot to 28 league goals for the season, a tally which has had a number of Nationwide League managers casting an eye over the talented young player.
