Carmarthen Town 2 Barry Town 1

CHRISTMAS came early for Carmarthen Town's new manager, Tommi Morgan, as his new charges caused the upset of the day by inflicting the first away defeta of the season on Barry Town.

This was the Dragons' second defeat of the campaign and it must have whetted the appetite of this weekend's visitors to Jenner Park, third placed Aberystwyth.

Following a financial arrangement with a supermarket chain, Aber manager, Meirion Applecton, has been quick to strengthen his squad, which now includes two players from Barry's championship winning side of last season - Phil Johnson and Gareth Knott.

Saturday's result gives Aber a window of opportunity to get back into the title race following a run of poor results, which have seen the Seasiders fall off the championship pace slightly and they must beat Barry on Saturday to get back into the title race.

Having brought about a mini-revival at Rhayader over the past few weeks, Carmarthen Town supporters were ecstatic when Tommi Morgan brought a fighting response from the Carmarthen players, who battled away on a muddy pitch and took the lead through Rossiter after 21 minutes. The conditions were far from conducive for a passing game which Barry are noted for and it wasn't until the 53rd minute that the Town managed to pull level through Lee Barrow. Adams struck late on to send the biggest League of Wales crowd of the day wild as Carmarthen recorded a famous victory.

The Town bounced back from their defeat at Richmond Park on Saturday and found themselves more than 20,000 richer, when they beat Caernarfon in the final game of the FAW Premier Cup to top the table ahead of Swansea and Wrexham.

Eifion Williams led the way with a de-facto hat-trick, scoring twice while his presence contributed to Caernarfon's player-manager, Paul Rowlands putting in his own net. The win ensures that the Town will have home advantage in the quarter-finals, which will be played in February.

Carmarthen Town have been ordered not to play any more games on Richmond Park until an investigation has established what was responsible for causing severe burning to Barry's goalkeeper, Andy Dibble, during Saturday's game. Dibble was taken to Morriston hospital and received skin graft surgery.

Gary Lloyd has turned down the opportunity to join Crewe and has signed a new contract which will keep him at Jenner Park for the rest of the season.
