BARRY TOWN duly booked their place into the fourth round of the Welsh Cup, with this win against the Bluebirds, to repeat their win of 11 days ago in the Gilbert League Cup by the same score.
Unfortunate cup draws for the West Walians compunded by the fact that they have to come to Jenner Park in two weeks time for a league fixture.
Two more goals for the goal machine, Eifion Williams, the second goal, one of sheer quality to grace any soccer ground.
Barry's defence was sound with only two clear cut chances for the visitors, both well saved by Dave Wells and Barry have now gone six games without conceding a goal and have conceded just three in the last ten matches.
Gary Barnett, October manager of the month, again showed that quality football plays dividends, having to break down the Bluebirds 10-man defensive plan to get the result.
Missing influential midfielders Danny Carter and Richard Jones, both carrying knocks, the champions were still too strong for Haverfordwest and teh second half was a siege with the visitors holding out until the 68th minute.
Barry's reward is a home tie against Newtown or Connah's Quay to be played in February having already reached the semi-finals of the League Cup against Inter or Cwmbran.
This game was a dour affair in the first half, with the Bluebirds on a game plan of defend and break with the better of the opening exchanges. They got a couple of corners which Barry struggled to clear and culminating in an Andy Jones awkward shot which Wells did really well to save.
Chances came to Justin Perry, Lee Barrow, Chris Pridham and Williams, the latter a header from a superb Mark Dempsey cross, which drifted just wide. Burrows for the visitors was unfortunate with a 30-yarder which went just wide.
Just before half-time, Williams and Gary Lloyd combined superbly with the latter hitting the final ball over the bar.
In the second period, Perry fluffed a heading chance after Dempsey supplied a superb cross and the ex-Shrewsbury star continued to pierce the defence with great runs down the left and supplying dangerous crosses.
Haverfordwest were totally committed to almost total defence, seeking a replay at their ground and it was one-way traffic as Barry surged forward with even central defenders Lee Barrow and Andrew York joining the attack.
Barnett fluffed a Dempsey cross before a mix-up in the visitors defence saw the ball run to Williams, who rounded the keeper to score Barry's first goal.
Pridham, deputising for Jones, lost the ball in midfield and almost let the visitors in, but the defence recovered and after Wells saved from Scott who thought he had scored, it was all Barry again.
Paul Mitchell delivered a great ball out to the right-wing to Williams, who collected the ball on the touchline to score a tremendous goal. As the ball bounced with a defender closing in, Barry's star striker volleyed the ball into the far corner over the goalkeeper's head, a truly remarkable goal, effectively killing the game off.
