This was a thoroughly entertaining cup game on a cold Tuesday evening on a lush pitch which was fast and true.
Both sides contributed to a great game and to be fair to the visitors, they played some good football and they do have some good players.
They will certainly do well in the league and end up in the top half. Unfortunately for them, they were up against Barry who were playing some speedy neat, technical passing, especially down the flanks where Mark Dempsey was superb.
Eifion Williams celebrated a second half hat-trick after a first half hat-trick of missed chances. Nevertheless, the striker had a great game, possibly one of his best since joining the club and his all-round game is improving tremendously.
Barry again played their squad players, resting Gary Lloyd, Danny Carter, Andrew York, Richard Jones and Paul Mitchell, but all the players had good game,s, with Jodie Jenkins enjoying a midfield role.
Darren Davies in for Lloyd did well to head away a deep corner to save an early goal, but when Barry attacked Jenkins found space on the left and crossed to Dempsey, who was bundled over. From the penalty spot, Dempsey made it 1-0 after 6 minutes.
The game was being played at a lively pace and when Caersws had a corner, the ball came out to Hamer who fired in a low shot into the corner, but David Wells got down to save well.
Terry Evans was getting down the right flank and linking well with Dempsey, one such move set up Williams, he crossed to Justin Perry who side-footed home for 2-0 after 15 minutes.
Dempsey seemed to be getting a lot of the ball and was a constant thorn in Caersws' side.
Williams also was using his great pace to outstrip the defence, but maybe was trying too hard to score.
Dempsey capped a great first half with a jinking run and a great shot which Griffiths in the visitors goal did well to save.
The second half continued in the same vein, with again Dempsey and Williams the dangermen, but it was Lee Barrow breaking out of defence and sending a superb pass to split the defence to send Williams on his way to get his first goal.
Williams coolly slid the ball past Griffiths and it was 3-0 with 68 minutes gone.
Nine minutes later, Williams made it 4-0 with another great burst of speed. Dempsey went off to make way for Carter and he was instrumental in setting up Williams to get his hat-trick with a great volley and it was 5-0 with just two minutes remaining.
This puts Barry into the last eight and likely to be drawn against a South Wales side in the next round.
