In Group C, though, Inter Cable-tel have belied their LoW form, in which they are 16th, by virtually securing a place in the quarter-finals. The Cardiff club have 9 points from 4 matches, having defeated Connah's Quay twice, and Tuesday's win against Newtown. Inter will finish at least third in the group.

Other FAW Cup matches which have fallen victim to the weather which has engulfed Wales in recent days are those at Merthyr Tydfil (v Rhyl) and Connah's Quay Nomads (v Newtown). The other match in Group B is the live game at Swansea City (v Wrexham), which is currently still to be played, and the match at Inter Cable-Tel (v Cwmbran Town).
Bangor City were heavily defeated by Cardiff City in a Group A game last night, Cardiff running out 4-1 winners. The Farrar Road club hold a meeting tomorrow night with their supporters, before their meeting with Barry on Saturday at Farrar Road.

In the three LoW matches which did take place, Haverfordwest, who face Barry on three occasions in the next month, moved up to fifth spot after defeating Conwy, while Rhyl were the surprise package, thrashing Holywell 5-1 only a week after the resignation of Dean Martin. In the other match, Caernarfon, who visit Barry on Tuesday, drew 1-1 at home with Inter Cabletel.
Lloyd joined Barry in November, 1994, and has played for Barry in both European Champions League qualifiers and the UEFA Cup, in addition to sitting on the bench for Wales (v Belgium, 1997) and playing for Wales 'B' (v Scotland, 1997).
Schools will be asked to nominate a child every month who has contributed to the 'Community' in some form. Along with their parents, the child will attend a Barry Town home match, where they will receive pre-match meals, entry to the game, a match-day programme and an opportunity to meet the players.

The English League Third Division side had gone unbeaten in six consecutive matches prior to meeting Barry, but were forced to rely on former Barry player, Tony Bird, to score past his old side in the 88th minute. Bird's goal came from a corner on the right and he rose well to head home.
However, Barry were by far the better side, playing their trademark football in a more comfortable way than in Saturday's match at Total Network Solutions.
Considering the media interpretation of football in South Wales, this is one point gained rather than two points lost for Barry, although Swansea fans seem to have taken comfort with a point at home.
Barry and Swansea both have 4 points from 2 matches, with Wrexham third on 3 points. Barry's next opponents, Caernarfon Town, are bottom of the group with no points or goals from their past two FAW Cup matches.
The group winners and runners-up qualify for the quarter-finals, in addition to the best two runners-up of the three groups. Essentially, two victories from Barry's last four matches should see the Jenner Park side through to the next round.

This would appear to be Shaun Stringer's first positive actions as 'Commercial Manager' of the club, and it is hoped that he will find further fundraising avenues for the club to explore.

Eifion Williams set Barry on the path to victory scoring in the second minute of the match. A ball out to the left found Mark Dempsey whose cross found Williams in the centre, and able to put the ball into an empty goal.
Although hardly a bad tempered match, T.N.S, featuring former Barry players Darren Ryan and Steve O'Shaughnessy (as substitute) played to upset Barry, with both Terry Evans and Gary Lloyd leaving the pitch with injuries sustained after hard tackles. Damien Currier was booked for one such challenge on Richard Jones.
T.N.S also had the best opportunity of the match, when Darren Ryan's well-rehearsed free-kick technique found former Tranmere Rovers player, Ken McKenna, in space only yards from the Barry goal. However, he snatched at the chance which went well wide of the target.
Barry took a two-goal advantage midway through the second half. Referee Phil Southall allowed the advantage to be be played on an offside decision, and Gary Lloyd chipped the T.N.S defence, with Eifion Williams deftly lobbing Andrew Mulliner in the T.N.S goal.
Barry had an opportunity to go three ahead when Mark Dempsey picked up on slack defending, with his shot coming back off the inside of the post. Eifion Williams was on hand for the rebound, but with Mulliner well beaten, he squirmed as the ball bobbled and his shot went over the bar.
With Barry coasting, T.N.S were able to get back into the game. Several mishit passes from Richard Jones and Gary Lloyd contrived to allow Ken McKenna to shoot from the edge of the box, with his effort going inbetween the diving Barry keeper, Dave Wells, and the far post.
As T.N.S pushed up in search of an equaliser, they left gaps in their defence. Barry nearly punished that with two minutes remaining, as Williams again broke free only to be 'professionally' fouled by the final man in defence. As the ball broke free to Justin Perry, the referee allowed play to continue, but Perry saw his sidefooted shot go wide of the post.
This was a tactical victory for Barry, with the Jenner Park outfit soaking up T.N.S pressure and successfully hitting them on the break. There is no doubt that T.N.S had the majority of possession, and the occasional willing to play good football, but the early goal gave Barry an advantage, and the Dragons missed further good chances in an entertaining match.
Despite victories for Aberystwyth, at Caersws 3-2, and Cwmbran Town, 3-0 at home to Conwy, Barry remain top of the League of Wales table tonight, and are well placed to remain so. Today's battling performance augurs well for the away match at Swansea City in the FAW Premier Cup on Tuesday.

A second half hat-trick from Eifion Williams sealed the fate of Caersws, who lost twice to Barry in the last ten days.
Barry opened the scoring after six minutes, when Mark Dempsey fired home a penalty. Justin Perry improved the scoreline eight minutes later. With Barry in top form, Eifion Williams then went on to cement his position as top goalscorer in the League of Wales by scoring three times.
As in the original tie, Barry played as close to a second string squad as possible, with players, including Andrew York, Gary Lloyd, Danny Carter and Richard Jones missing from the starting line-up.
On this occasion it made no difference, though, as the League Cup holders powered their way through to the second round, where they face the oppportuntity to play Haverfordwest County, Inter Cabletel or LoW second placed, Cwmbran Town.

Tommi Morgan had an unfortunate return to League of Wales management, with his Rhayader side being hammered 7-1 at Jenner Park on Saturday. That convincing victory saw Barry move back to their traditional spot at the top of the table.
Danny Carter started the rout with a 14th minute goal. That came despite Rhayader playing some good football. Rhayader, who had scored in all bar one match this season, actually equalised through Richard Parker's 16th minute header.
That came to nothing though, with Barnett scoring at the second attempt in the 34th minute, and Eifion Williams adding a third before the break.
Eifion cemented his position at the top of the LoW scoring charts by scoring again in the 46th minute, while Danny Carter got his second of the game soon after. A Richard Jones penalty continued his goalscoring run, while substitute Justin Perry scored an 98th minute goal - his first LoW strike for the club.
With rivals Aberystwyth Town drawing at home to Caernarfon on Saturday, Barry moved above them, with 16 points from 7 matches, opposed to Aber's 15. However, Aber slip to third, with Cwmbran Town moving to second. Despite early season lossed to both Aber and Barry, the Crows have since impressed - recording a 4-0 win on Saturday over Haverfordwest County.

Wells joined Barry in August, having formerly played for AFC Bournemouth in the English Second Division. His call up, and his appearance in goal for Barry has added fuel to the argument that the League of Wales has become the best 'shop-window' in Wales for players wishing to gain international recognition, and/or improve their playing standards.
