Trades, Trades and more Trades

The off season was one to remember.  Teams spent most of the time wheeling and dealing away key
players and acquiring key players to make their improvements this season. Although many players did make
movements most of the goaltending for most teams remained the same. More trades are expected throughout
the season and assure that teams will try to make each of their teams the best they can.  Who will come out
on top on each trade.  Stay tuned this season?  We will evaluate statistics on trades later this season.

A look back through last season

The playoffs were one to remember for some teams and some to forget for others.  The most exciting
time of the year provided with many upsets.  The major cinderella story had to be the Humpbacked.  While
the Hellcats provided their own magic themselves by defeating the mighty Thunderhawks last year was truly
remarkable with the established line-up the Thunderhawks had.  Major or minor disappointments must go to the
managers of the Storm, and the Fireflies who couldn't pass the first round of the playoffs.  Congrats go to the
Hellcats for clinching the title and to the Hurricanes for the runners up and to the rest of the managers for
making this league the best there is!!
Last season also had many points of interest.  Forsberg 54 goals, D-X best trio of stars with Sundin, Jagr
and Tkachuk, and Wolverines and the Earthquake with the best series I believe. And onto this season with
many more improved teams, the league will be very interesting to see who comes up on top.

Individual Leaders Season 2

As you well know it is early in the season but there are some players that are off to a hot start.  How
about Hurricanes Shawn McEachern with 8 goals to this date.  The Storm trio of Leclair, Sakic and Bondra
who are off to a great start.  These 3 guys are clicking together.  How about Brett Hull's streak of 6 consecutive
games with a goal, very impressive in only 6 games he's played!  How about the strong play of goalies in the
net, no major blowouts yet this season.  Brodeur, Belfour, Dafoe, are all playing extremely well.  The biggest
impression has to be Pavol Dimtra with 13 points to begin this season. Looks like it's going to be a great race
for each individual category this year!

Outcomes this week

This is usually games that caught my eye this week. Also if injuries played a role for some teams this is
the category.  In game 1 of the season we had the Defending Champs Hellcats and the Best record last year
Thunderhawks. Outcome..... notch one for the team with the best record, score 3-2.  Next Game on day 4
where Lumberjack pulled out a 1-0 win over Humpbacked.  What a defensive game they played with great
goaltending both ways. On day 8 with the Storm cracked 8 goals against an excellent team in the D-X. So
far this season the standings aren't too bad but it is only the beginning of the season.  Just like last year the
Thunderhawks and the Hurricanes lead their respective conferences at the beginning of the season.

Poll Question  Who will be the goal scoring leader this season?
I will then keep all records of everyone's educated guess and we'll see who guesses right or guesses the
closest!!! Send your votes via the Commish and they will ensure I get them!

Until next week keep yer sticks on the ice!
