No Alan Shearer today as he was suspended for his sending off on the opening day of the season but there was no lack of goals in this game a six goal thriller was in store for the paying fans.

Paul Robinson and Jamie McClen were to get home starting debuts for Newcastle in a relatively young Newcastle side.

It was not to take long for Newcastle to open the account only seven minutes in fact after Paul Robinson who made an impressive appearance against Spurs set up Gary Speed to fire home to give some early joy to the heart-broken fans.

Newcastle always looked comfortable in this game and a spectacular individual goal by Didier Domi was the reward for some patience. It was Domi's first goal for the club after his 4 million pound move from PSG.

And their inadequacies were worryingly exposed once again a minute before the break when the Spaniard needlessly conceded a corner and when Cort flicked on Kimble's cross Hughes pounced at the far post to smash the ball home.

Newcastle now had to control themselves as Wimbledon got that goal just before half time to gain a mental advantage.

Newcastle were to get their third and final goal straight after the break when Nolberto Solano scored from the penalty spot to get his second goal of the season. He was now joint top goal scorer with Gary Speed with no forward insight.

But that was the last time Newcastle were to get on the score sheet even though Jamie McClen missed a clear chance when Neil Sullivan cleared the ball straight into him and the ball went wide.

It was now going to be all downhill from Newcastle when some really slack defending let Ainsworth to get onto the score sheet after Beharall who was on for the injured Goma. hesitated in the box.

It was not the last time he was to get on the score sheet though.

Newcastle were now starting to rock and looked live throwing away the game. And thats what they exactly did.

Ainsworth got his second goal of the game with a last minute equaliser for the Dons.

Newcastle were now been criticised for throwing away all of the games they had and it was going to be Judgment Day on Wednesday 25th for Gullit and his men when the Scum from the East came to St. James' Park.
