Day 9
An Atlanta Family day in San Fran

San Francisco -- Thursday night's game was interesting. Their pitcher [Allen Watson] was coming off the disabled list and had 4 to 5 extra miles per hour on his fastball. We had a tough time adapting to it, and on my homer in the ninth I actually hit a curveball that he left over the plate. I had been looking for that all night long and finally got it. But it still wasn't enough.

My wife [Karin] came in and we went out after the game to a place called The Bus Stop. We met some other players over there and actually left early because Karin was tired because she had just gotten in that afternoon.

We slept in, and Friday was the deal with Burger King where the winner came in with his family and we took them to lunch. It was a family from Dacula, and the kid's name was Spencer and he was 9. We went down to the Wharf and ate some seafood. A limo picked them up, and then a Burger King rep came and got us. It was pretty cool. The family was excited, taking a lot of pictures and movies. We walked around for a while and signed some autographs and stuff. Nice kid.

I then went back to the hotel, and since we had the limo the whole day we put it to use, as along with a couple of players we jumped in and took it to the park.

A lot of the players have their wives on the trip now, the team flying them out first class by the way, as one of the perks for such a long trip. It's really nice having Karin here. She enjoys San Francisco and we have a day game Saturday, which means we can go out to eat in a city that has a million good restaurants. It is a shame Candlestick is such a lousy park because it's a great city here. But they are getting a new stadium, which will really help them.
