Welcome to the page of former University of New Orleans head coach Tim Floyd! Now Playing..."Sweet Home Chicago" for the next head coach of the Chicago Bulls :-)
Tim Floyd wearing his characteristic (at least during games) scowl. Off the court, he is a nice guy and actually quiet and reserved, the opinion of somebody who has met him...
Floyd coached UNO from 1988 through 1994. In six seasons, the Privateers to a record of 127 wins against 58 losses. His best season was in 1992-93, with a record of 26-4 and 18-0 in the Sun Belt
Floyd coached tenacious defense and UNO was among the nation's leaders in rebounding and opponent's shooting percentage. Floyd took UNO to the postseason five times in six seasons before leaving for Iowa State.
He has enjoyed similar success, taking the Cyclones to three NCAA tournaments in four seasons. Rumors have persisted about Floyd leaving Iowa State to coach the NBA's Chicago Bulls, but nothing had come of those rumors until today when he was named "Director of Basketball Operations" and future head coach of the Chicago Bulls. The time of his taking over as coach of the Bulls is contingent on Phil Jackson's returning to coach Chicago. Jackson has stated that he is not returning to the Bulls. So right now we'll have to wait and see.
